Beth Israel School of Nursing, 2011/2012 Applicants? NYC

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi all - I've been reviewing the boards here for a while and thank you all for your detailed responses and information left. This board is awesome and has really helped me calm my nerves with respect to the admissions process at Beth Israel in NYC.

My apologies if a thread of this nature already exists - (i couldn't find one) -- Just wondering if any 2012 applicants are out there?? I am applying to the evening session beginning in January 2012.

I've submitted my completed package and scored an 89th percentile AD on the NLN PAX. I took the computerized version and was able to get my scores back immediately. The anticipation would have killed me otherwise. :nurse:

Anyway, I am eagerly awaiting a call or email from PBISON regarding the next step in the admission process which is the in-person interview. Fingers, Toes, and eyes are crossed!

Is anyone else out there applying for admission to the 2011/2012 entering class? Anyone further ahead in the process, perhaps you've had your interview already? I'm wondering how long to wait from the time I submitted my scores to the time of following up w/ the admissions board... I'm thinking 2 weeks is fair.?

Any comments welcome. Thanks in advance - and good luck!

Hi Ladynurse,

So if their time-line vary... You think it'll be fine to turn in my application earlier than January? I pretty much already have everything together, I'm just waiting to take the NLN. Do I need to turn in my application portfolio together with my NLN score or I could turn in my portfolio first then just write on the admission form when I plan to take the exam (when its already available)?

@Prudence - That's what I was told too, they moved the deadline to March 1st, are you also applying? or you're already in the program?

I would turn it in ASAP, and then take the nln at the first avail date. I think the first committee meeting is in May and if you have a high gpa in your pre requ's and high school and score over the 90th percent you should get an interview pretty quick otherwise you'll have to wait it out

Hi Ladynurse,

Thanks for the tips! I'll be a transfer student from out of state, I have already taken most of the pre-req's except for the A&P (pretty much the science classes), as of now my current GPA is barely at the border. Will that diminish my chance of getting an interview? I have work experience in the medical field for years ... Do you they really look at the whole package or they look at mostly academics in terms of GPA?

Thanks so much for the helpful tips =)

They def look at the whole package but I think they give priority to people with high gpa and people with masters and bachelors degrees. They want to see if your mature enough and capable of completing and succeeding in the program.

They go by who has higher GPA's and NLN scores in terms of calling people in for interviews. The whole package is very important in order to get in, but they do give priority to those with higher scores.

Thanks ladynurse & chikenlegs!

Hopefully I get called in for an interview... The unknown is giving me anxiety only because I really want this. I'd be heart broken if I don't make it to the cut, and as of my current standing its my GPA that is really worrying me. Do you know what other volunteer programs are good other than the hospital ones, since the hospitals here where I'm at don't take new volunteers until next year. Does non-medical volunteer work count?

Also, how do I go about in registering for the NLN? I already made an account with NLN, however PBISON isnt in the list yet. Will it show up when they already have the dates?

Sorry for all the questions but I am really excited about this.

Now that we are in the school guys! Can the ATop or track2 identify??!!!!!!! We have been practically talking all this time but we have ignored allnurses at school!

Hello to All,

Cna anyone tell me if there is a waiting list at the school? If so, how long is it for? The site does not help with general common questions so, any helpful information will help.

Hey all - I can't believe how much this thread has developed since I first started it such a long time ago! --- I start my evening classes on Tuesday. So nervous. So excited. So... ahhhh!!! Best of luck to all my 'classmates' regardless of what track you are in! Yay!

Great News! PBISN Class of 2011 NCLEX passing rate is 99% ..81 out of 82 graduates passed on their first try.. Congrats!

So I finally took my NLN exam last month (January 2012). I did the paper exam (since I wasn't given an option to do the computerized exam when I registered). Ho long does it take to get the results? (It's been 2 weeks!) Are they going to mail me the result or email it? (We were asked to put in our email address in the Scranton sheet) I am so anxious to find out how I did on the exam. I have my portfolio ready to mail out, and I am just waiting for the result before I do so.

sorry aanxious, I do not have an answer to your query. I need to find info about pbisn from some alumni or people who are applying to the fall 2012 class. Is this the only pbisn thread??? Before your question, aanxious, the previous one was 5 months ago! I do need some help.
