Beth Israel School of Nursing, 2011/2012 Applicants? NYC

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi all - I've been reviewing the boards here for a while and thank you all for your detailed responses and information left. This board is awesome and has really helped me calm my nerves with respect to the admissions process at Beth Israel in NYC.

My apologies if a thread of this nature already exists - (i couldn't find one) -- Just wondering if any 2012 applicants are out there?? I am applying to the evening session beginning in January 2012.

I've submitted my completed package and scored an 89th percentile AD on the NLN PAX. I took the computerized version and was able to get my scores back immediately. The anticipation would have killed me otherwise. :nurse:

Anyway, I am eagerly awaiting a call or email from PBISON regarding the next step in the admission process which is the in-person interview. Fingers, Toes, and eyes are crossed!

Is anyone else out there applying for admission to the 2011/2012 entering class? Anyone further ahead in the process, perhaps you've had your interview already? I'm wondering how long to wait from the time I submitted my scores to the time of following up w/ the admissions board... I'm thinking 2 weeks is fair.?

Any comments welcome. Thanks in advance - and good luck!

Thank you so much . I did get an interview and got accepted going to start in January. Thank you so much for support and encouraging. I really didn't think i would get in. I still can't believe i did.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the board, planning to apply to PBISN this coming year (to *hopefully* be accepted for 2013/14). Have gotten a ton of info from this thread and others, but I have a couple of quick questions for whoever may be reading this.

#1: How does the admissions committee calculate GPA (i.e. do they take into account ALL grades earned at ALL previous colleges attended, or just the most recent, or only certain classes etc.)? I am carrying a 4.0 at the community college I'm currently attending where I have taken all of the liberal arts/general science courses listed on their website. However, I failed the entire last semester I took at Rutgers due to medical reasons. I did well there before that, but that semester took my GPA down to a 2.4 there. That was a few years ago, though, and for legitimate reasons, so I'm hoping they will overlook it?

#2: Being that I have a decent stretch of time until I will be applying, is it possible to take the NLN more than once?

Thanks in advance for anyone who has advice!! :)

Had my interview today! It went awesome and they were speaking to me like they were intending to accept me...so I hope they do! I'm so excited!

AspiringNurse87,

Thank you so much for the interview advice! Those questions are exactly what they asked and thanks to you I was well prepared!

Rnjt 86-- Congrats! I'm so happy for you!

Hi NorNor7,

1- As for the pre-reqs awesome GPA! They will def love that and it will give you a step above the rest of the applicants. As for your gpa at Rutgers they do ask to see all transcripts from High School and onward, so you would have to supply that... but, I suggest emailing the school or meeting with one of the staff members when you are in the process of applying, explaining the situation and going from there. I believe they really look at the pre-reqs the most, but you could never be too safe because they have said in the past that the application as a whole is taken into consideration. Maybe touching upon it in your essay may be an option?... but that's all up to you.

2- I'm actually am not 100% about this, but I have heard of people taking the NLN more than once before applying. I suggest calling up the school and asking them how much time in between each test does one have before retaking it. (I don't remember if it's every 2 or 6 months?)

Hope this helps a bit, Good luck!

Aw that's great to hear! I'm still waiting for a response...crossing my fingers. What track did you apply to? Maybe i'll meet you in August (knocks on wood lol)

Originally I applied for the three year track BC I need to continue working full time and I have most of the credits so that would mean only one class a semester...BUT I met a student while I was waiting for my interview and she convinced me to switch to the two year traditional track. Which are you?

I applied for the two year trad track too! If you have all the pre-reqs why not finish quicker right? It's only 2 classes a semester I believe.

I was told that tomorrow would be the day to call to hear about some decisions. Ahhh a bit nervous :/

Me too! So nervous...

Me too! See you soon hopefully! Best of luck to anyone else waiting for a reply.
