Beth Israel School of Nursing, 2011/2012 Applicants? NYC

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi all - I've been reviewing the boards here for a while and thank you all for your detailed responses and information left. This board is awesome and has really helped me calm my nerves with respect to the admissions process at Beth Israel in NYC.

My apologies if a thread of this nature already exists - (i couldn't find one) -- Just wondering if any 2012 applicants are out there?? I am applying to the evening session beginning in January 2012.

I've submitted my completed package and scored an 89th percentile AD on the NLN PAX. I took the computerized version and was able to get my scores back immediately. The anticipation would have killed me otherwise. :nurse:

Anyway, I am eagerly awaiting a call or email from PBISON regarding the next step in the admission process which is the in-person interview. Fingers, Toes, and eyes are crossed!

Is anyone else out there applying for admission to the 2011/2012 entering class? Anyone further ahead in the process, perhaps you've had your interview already? I'm wondering how long to wait from the time I submitted my scores to the time of following up w/ the admissions board... I'm thinking 2 weeks is fair.?

Any comments welcome. Thanks in advance - and good luck!

what are you looking to find out? i am a current student. started the evening program this year.

Hi,

I am an aspiring nurse I have a B.F.A from F.I.T., but as I have gotten older have decided that my true calling is nursing.

Now I have a few question regarding Beth Israel I know that I have some of the prerequesties but not all, but I can take them at a community college where it could be cheaper. First, when you apply for BethIsrael should you have completed all pre-reqs first? Second what is the shedule like for a partime student? How many nights a week and what is the schedule?

After you graduate from this school do you only end up with an assocoiates or do they offer a B.S.N.?

What is the tuition here per credit?

Do they offer job placement? I know many new nurses in NYC that are haveing a very hard time finding jobs in NYC that have a

B.S.N.?

Do they place you in there hospital or what is the deal?

Are there anymore 2011/2012 applicants on here? I applied and did pretty well on the NLN, decent GPA tons of volunteer work and medical experience .... haven't heard anything yet. Has anyone gotten an interview yet?

Hello I wanted to ask about Beth Israel's withdrawal policy? I have a couple of drops on my transcript because I have been going through personal issues and I wanted to ask how they might look at them? I also heard that sometime next year their requirements would change by a friend of mine who goes to another school and I wanted to ask if it was true? Please this would help a lot if someone answered me these questions would help put my mind at ease :(

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to find out if you think i have a chance of getting in with the following. High school 86. College 2.76. NlN 119. A lot of volunteer work. I obviously know you don't know but just wanna see if i have a chance of getting in.

Thanks

You def have a chance. My numbers are around the same and I just got a call for an interview today! Have you heard from them yet?

Omg!! Just got an email for an interview! I emailed back to reschedule because I can't get out of work on short notice. Do you think ill miss my chance?

Did you have your interview yet? If so what did you think of it?

Has anyone anyone else heard back from PBISON yet? Ahhh

My interview is on Wednesday....any tips? So nervous! I keep having weird dreams about it

EMTNurseTech,

LOL! @ Weird dreams, Don't fret. I too was thinking the worst, but the person that interviewed me was so nice and half of the time was her explaining the program, and what it entails. Some questions she asked were:

Suppose you met someone that only had the idea that a nurse was like the ones depicted on Nurse Jackie or ER, how would you explain to them what the role of a nurse is?

Your strengths, and weaknesses?

Your favorite subject, and least favorite to study?

Your greatest challenges in life?

If you've volunteered or work in a medical setting, what do you do?

If you have an advanced degree (BSN or higher than a H.S. dip, etc) why do you want to make this a career now?

They also ask questions regarding your essay, so be sure to reread it.

Other than that, go in confident, just be yourself and I'm sure everything will be fine.

Good luck! If you have any further questions, ask away! Let us know how it goes :)

Hi rnjt86,

I just wanted to tell you a little story. When I went to visit PBISN last week, one of the faculty members told me a story about an applicant who has been persistent since the day his/her application was complete, and although their app wasn't on the high range his/her persistence got her an interview! So basically, don't lose hope, be persistent and things will work in your favor! Push hard for what you want!
