Wondering if anyone would be willing to share how much they are making as a New NP and how many hours that is for?

New grad FNP- West coast.

Just accepted job offer:

Work for community clinic (not fqhc)

125K plus 5K sign on bonus. 40 hours work week

Opportunity for productivity bonuses

4 weeks PTO

HMO/PPO plans

LTD, vision, dental, dependants covered, etc

Paid volunteer time

2500 CME/5 days

8-10 holidays off (forget actual number) plus 1 floating

4 to 6 months onboarding.

That sounds very low for a speciality in DC especially because you didn't get a raise when you changed jobs. Unless there are extenuating circumstances making a lateral move is not ideal.

Currently per diem in Texas, not a large city at all. FNP working in an after hours clinic (not specialty). Offered $45/hour, but negotiated to $50/hour. No benefits, being per diem, but they have mentioned when the need expands they might hire me FT. If I were working 40 hours/week it would be just over $100,000/year. I'm actually really happy with that, as I talked to recruiters and was told the average in this area was 90,000 for new grads. Have been told new grads at Baylor Scott & White in the specialty areas have successfully negotiated ~120,000/year. Hope this helps. I had a friend who told me not to settle for less than $100,000/year in this area in spite of what I'd been told. Thanks to her I refused to let them offer me less than $50/hour. I probably would have settled for less if not for her. Don't be unrealistic, but don't be afraid to put a good value on yourself. You have a lot of school behind you and even if you have to be taught/trained, you're providing a great service.

-Started at 85K (new grad) and went to 90K at 90 days (negotiated that when hired)

-10 days vacation, $1000 CME

-In contract the expectation was to see 16 pts/day

-Started to see an average of 22 pts/day at 6 months

-Stayed up to midnight charting during the week and spent an average of 12 hrs charting on the weekends

-Became an angry girl

-At 1.5 years in this positionI became a super angry girl.

- I made graphs showing the percentages of 99213 vs 99214 I billed. Made another graph showing the different levels of visits for the Medicare patients I see.

-Asked for 110k

-Got laughed at. Told him the income I was bringing into the practice was worth 110k. He told me I was already overpaid. I stood my ground.

-We agreed with 100k

-I am still an angry girl

Smart move to negotiate the immediate increase once you got your bearings. I'm hoping you are able to get your work done during the work day now. I think Florida is one of the lowest paying states but if you are angry about your rate and treatment show your displeasure with your feet.

What state? Because for example in FL maybe a decent deal but in DC not a good deal.

I would say if you've been an hourly paid RN in the Northeast for more than 8 years then becoming an FNP will very likely be a paycut for you and actually more of a headache. Once you punch out as a bedside RN your work is done. As an FNP you may very likely be taking work home with you and you won't see one red cent above than what you agreed to for salary.
