New Mexico Licensure Question

Published

Hi everyone. Does anyone know how one should go about applying for the State board in New Mexico? After the school sends the official transcript and after completing the fingerprinting requirements, how long will it take before one could be given an ATT? Thanks and have a nice day!

Where does it say they require CES for endorsement? I couldn't see it.

This indicates endorsement and evaluation of their educational credentials which could be interpreted as CES

I meant Maryland actually, as the poster was asking about endorsement to MD from NM. NM do their own evaluation of credentials, they don't do CES.

on this link, http://www.mbon.org/main.php?v=norm&p=0&c=licensure/endorsement.html

the md bon stated that one of their criteria for licensure by endorsement is the

"2. completion of a state approved program for registered nursing education for rn licensure or completion of a state approved program for licensed practical nursing education for lpn licensure"

and with that statement, doesn't that imply that a foreign graduate would need a ces to be able to demonstrate that he/she graduated from an approved nursing education program for rn/lpn licensure? cgfns has the capacity to evaluate. because clearly if you were educated in a foreign country, then your school was not state approved in the us. not unless the md bon would say that a diploma or transcript from a foreign country is sufficient enough to comply with this requirement.

to those who are still waiting for their ATT from NM, you'll get it eventually :) just as i did. although i waited for a long time compared to others who got their ATT within a week after they submitted their application papers, everything worked out well. i waited for 2 months --- yeah....looooong time :) although mine is an isolated case because there was a problem with my papers. but let me point out though that if i was told of this at least 2 weeks when i first submitted my application papers, i think my waiting time would be less than 2 months -- perhaps, just a month and that's like the maximum time already. some 15 days, my case was in a "frozen" state. anyway, the pain in waiting for my ATT is over so that's something to be thankful for :) i think, it's still fast though compared to other state. now i can move on to the next step! :) i'm so excited!!! :)

so just be patient :) just make sure your papers -- from credentials to application -- are all good. payments should be in place, too, of course :)

good luck!

So which is it now?

Do they need CES or not in application of Licensure by Endorsement in Maryland?

i hope that those in the US among us can make a quick phone call to MD BON about this CES issue on licensure by endorsement. it would be a very helpful info. thanks in advance.

hi! i just want to quote on this! ^^

requirements concerning graduates from

non-u.s.nursing program

examination

non-u.s. educated registered nurse and practical nurse applicants for licensure

by examination in new mexico must request an evaluation of their nursing

education credentials* to determine if they meet requirements of the nm board.

this evaluation will be conducted upon receipt of (1) an official transcript sent

directly to the board from the nursing program they graduated from (2) or if the

transcript is not in english, a copy of a translated transcript certified by a

qualified translator sent directly to the board of nursing. for registered

nurses who have taken the cgfns examination, submit a copy of the cgfns

certificate, certified by a notary, to the board of nursing

*is there a form for this kind of request? will this request be added to the forms coming from the school?

there's no form for it. your school only needs to send your transcripts (with RLE) directly to the NM BON. Upon receipt of the transcript, the BON will conduct the evaluation.

Got in touch with the MD BON to clarify whether a foreign graduate needs a CES to be able to endorse his/her license or not but I wasn't able to get a straight answer though because I was told that whoever wants information regarding this should e-mail them their question and write their name and complete address and the information regarding this will be sent to them.

thanks caringnurse for taking time to call the BON.

in the previous instruction sheet for licensure by endorsement in MD (prior to the website's update only a couple of months ago to introduce oral english tests aside from TSE), the "completion of state approved program" was also mentioned as 2nd in the criteria. But, unlike in the updated website, it was mentioned (6th in the criteria) that graduates of schools outside the US may be asked to provide additional information following review of their application. A CES from CGFNS was not mentioned. This no longer appears in the updated website.

I hope this helps a bit. But, I also hope somebody (an interested applicant) can try sending an email-inquiry to MD BON.

Thanks again caringnurse.

tnx kiko for the reply ^^
