New Mexico Licensure Question

Published

Hi everyone. Does anyone know how one should go about applying for the State board in New Mexico? After the school sends the official transcript and after completing the fingerprinting requirements, how long will it take before one could be given an ATT? Thanks and have a nice day!

new mexico is never a point of entry if you are coming from se asia, no flights go non-stop there. your point of entry will more than likely be either san francisco or los angeles.

if you are not in the us currently, then you do not have a legal residence in the us, therefore you do not qualify for the compact state license and that is what is being asked. you will get a license that is good for nm only.

you do not need a lawyer for endorsement, you cannot transfer a license, you must endorse it to the new state.

and you never need to put a foot in the state of initisal licensure.

i highly recommend that you do some more reading before submitting anything. you will be creating more issues that you will need to deal with, and do not even have any idea about.

hmm so what should i indicate as my primary state of residence in the form above?

so i am bound by all laws to that state?

I'm confused, so what if Im in NY right now and since I'm mailing it in NY, NY then will be my mailing address, what will I put there, NY, Philippines or just leave it blank? Thank you so much guys

Mailing address and legal address are two completely different things. If it asked for legal address, it is where you pay taxes, and since you do not have a SSN#, then you are not paying taxes, and therefore do not have a legal residence in the US.

you do not have a primary state of residence in the us, you have not even come over to the us yet. there is no us address to put there, that is my point.

the reason that nm is asking is to see if you qualify for the compact license, and you do not. you must be a legal residence in nm and pay taxes there to be a legal resident for the purpose of the c.l.

you ar not bound to any laws of any state right now as you are not here.

hi guys!

im a new member to the forum and im glad to see your title here. since im about to apply for my license for new mexico. im working as an lpn here in the philippines. do you guys happen to have an idea if an pn nurse like me from the philippines can easily apply for my us licensed? can anybody help me on which or where to start? hope to here from anyone out there?

whether of not you take an exam, it does not give you a visa to work in the us. the lpn program is not even accepted in the philippines, and you cannot work in the us with it, as you do not qualify for a visa to work. the us government stipulates that you must be a first level professional nurse in your country to get a green card, and that means bsn from your country.

sorry that you went thru that program, there is not one thing that you can do legally with it in the us, unless you already have a green card.

your primary state of residence is the philippines.

you have not come to the us yet, you are not paying rent for an apt, you do not have a ssn, therefore you do not have a legal residence in the us.

where are you physically living right now? that is your legal residence, it is what is listed on all of your documents..............therefore, it is not anywhere in the us.

i got confused since one agency said that it will be new mexico, so i was really confused and you will have to work there before you can transfer to another state since that is where you applied.

i just wanted to clear things out.

forget what any agency there is telling you. they have no idea of what they are talking of. and there is absolutely no such thing that you need to work there before you can endorse. you do not transfer, either. you can only endorse to another state.

i have been licensed in states that i have never set foot in.

funny thing, the people that work for the agencies that you are speaking of have never worked in the us, have never been to the us, and are not nurses.

also since money is of issue, i just want to make sure before i go directly to decisions.

I still haven't decided where to apply due to the current issue of the 'exam'

do you have any suggestion to a state I may apply which will elude all these discrepancies involving the june exam?

i thought of

>CA

>NM

If you’re a US resident/reside legally in the US (meaning you have a US address/a US home/you rent a home in the US/you pay taxes in the US and use that address in your US tax forms), you have a US Driver's License (and the address on your license is your US legal residence),then I think that you could put that address in your application. But if that address is not your permanent address (like for Tourist Visa holders who go to the US to take the exams), then you have to put where you really reside. I don’t think that the NM BON requires one to have a US address to be eligible to sit for the NCLEX. If you were able to get in touch with someone from NM BON, then follow his/her advice.

Ok thanks Suzanne, I'll put Philippines then. I appreciate your help guys!

sorry, but that is totally wrong. you must submit an original fingerprint card, not one printed from online. it specifically says: "obtain proof of identity, which consists of a set of your fingerprints (original card, no copies), with your name, date of birth and place of birth. fingerprints should be placed on a standard fingerprint form (fd-258) commonly used for applicant or law enforcement purposes"

but according an email sent to me by ms. vidaurri in response to my fingerprint card inquiry it is otherwise. here's a part of that email:

......you can download the fingerprint cards off the board website now if you have not received your packet.

in order to reconcile this email of ms.vidaurri vis-a-vis "original card, no copies", the statement maybe construde as referring to the fingerprints themselves (and not the cards) as real and not mere photocopied after being taken by a fingerprinting technician.

anyway, to those who are in manila or vicinity of manila (or visiting manila), maybe you could stop by the u.s. embassy at the un avenue because they do issue the cards for free. just bring the duly accomplished nm bon application and background check forms (plus proper ids) and ask the gate guards (quite nicely) that you will be going to forms window to ask for fingerprint cards . at that window, just state your business and show them your forms.viola!

and if you do go to the embassy, maybe you could just be more efficient by accomplishing the ces, cvs, etc beforehand and have the notary part of the forms accomplished at the notary section of the embassy while you're at it.
