I am starting in September I figured it would be nice to start a thread where all of us new students could come and and share our experiences/help eachother out as we are on our way to be nurses :)
OK so my orientation now starts on 12/10 and now the 14th. I'm going to take the HESI Entrance exam on December 16th. If I don't pass I get dropped from the program, but I'm staying positive. They do prepare you for it and I've bought a study guide that I've already started using. I'm interested in knowing how are things going with JamNurse2425.
BlkQueen8,
Sorry it took me so long to respond, school has been keeping me super busy. It's been great academic wise (be prepared to study everynight and take a test every M,T,W, socially it's kind of like high school all over again. I personally haven't had any problems, but other classmates have. But the instructors don't let the drama run the class room. They quickly get back to the lecture. Are schedule is M-W 0830 TO 1530 (I'm practicing military time which you will learn as part of the curriculm) and TH & F 0800 to 1700 practicing for clinicals all day. I'll try to tell you more later, my mom is calling me to come get my daughter.
I will be starting the LVN program at Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts in Concord California January 4, 2010. 3 of my co workers have either gone and graduated or are in the process of going and they say its a good program. Can't wait. A co worker of mine who has already gone and graduated is letting me borrow his book so I can read up a bit before class and won't be totally shock at the curriculum with having some knowledge about what will be talked about in a sense.
I am so happy for all of you who are going to school and for the ones in school already, there will be tough days and great days but it is the tough days that build us as a person so keep up the great work and before you know it we will all be nurses
I start in March of 2010. I'm very excited! I just have to finish a few things like submit my physical/dental exam and drug test... background checks and I still have like 3 months to get it done. I'll be doing all that over the next month. I'm very excited!!! I've been a homemaker now for almost 3 years and I'm ready to go to school. I took a semester of college online (general communication classes) so my brains are not too lazy lol.
I'm definitely excited, but I do feel very nervous. Will I be successful? Will I flunk out? Can I balance school, my husband, and my daughters? Will I make a good LPN? I am not sure, and I can only try to keep positive and confident and the rest will fall into place.
I'll be going to the Lancaster County Career and Technology Center in Willow Street (Lancaster, PA). Anyone else??
