New and on H4 visa

I passed Nclex exam and I`m on H4 visa it means i dont have social security num.I made a big mistake and apply from California.Now I`m trying to open file in New york and get my licence .Also to get visa screen.My question is :

I`ve spent one week to read all things regarding green card and visa in this Web.I`ve read no visa for nurse s from India ,Philipin and China .What about me,I`m Iranian.

I really appreciate if somebody could advise me what I should do.For me it wasnt easy to pass this horrible exam ,with twins.I`m trying to do everthing to stay here if I could.

Unfortunately all nurses are under retrogression and you can not at the moment change your visa and work. If you are going to NY then you need CVS doing which will take several months however can apply for VSC now. Still makes no difference to retrogression and nurses inside the US are affected the same as those waiting outside the US. If you do not have a visa allowing you to work then you can not change. Also be aware if your husband looses his H1 you will have to leave, even if you have a petitioner it does not allow you to stay whilst being processed at the moment as you can only file I140

For Ny I have to start everything again .It is not easy to provide licence and transcrpt again from my country Iran again because of the relationship between US and Iran.

I have CE from CGFN and try to transfer my file from CAl and CGFNS to other state that dont need social security to issue the licence.But i donthave information which state i should apply for.

My husband is a fellow in Oncology and university is going to hire him and apply for green card for both of us, Do you think they will get it for us or getting a green card effects on doctor as well.

Where is your husband going to work? Having CES will help and there are a few BON's that will issue license without SSN just try searching the forums. Depending on category for your husband when his employer files for the GC will depend on whether you can also get EAD at the same time and whether affected by retrogression.

You cannot transfer a file from CA to NY. One of the requirements for NY is that CGFNS obtain all of the records that are needed and that is done thru the CVS. That is specific only for NY and cannot be used in place of the CES, or used instead of.

You will get a green card at the same time as your husband, as his dependent. But you still need to meet the requirements for licensure for the state where you wish to work.

Where is that actually going to be? That would be my first question before you do a thing.

Which state I could get my licence with CE?

If you are going to be working in Georgia, then that is the state that you should be using for licensure. You know that you are going to be there as well as you know that you will have a SSN#, so no reason really to go thru any other state in most cases.

If Georgia still requires additional documentation for initial licensure, then you can use NM to get the license since you already have the CES completed and then just endorse to them.

Now that your question is answered, can you share with us what nursing in Iran is like? What is the educational requirement to become a RN?

What is staffing and respondsiblity of a RN like? What area of nursing do you plan to practice in the US?

I would like to work in NICU in US.In Iran you have to go to university for 4 yrs to become a RN.

In Iran a RN handle everything in floor .Here for everythings you need to take course or have certificate but we do ECG,IV,ABG ....without taking any special course or certificate.

I worked in university hospital and private and have only 7 yrs experiences in NICU,ER,PED.Most of the time we worked as a team.3 RN for 30 Pt [ ped floor] so one of us take care of IV, another only med then the last one which is charge nurse handle the floor ,resident,fellow etc.RN is really under pressure.But in NICU I had 5 pt and in ER we handle 150- 200 pt during 12 hrs shift [4 RN].I worked 5 mons[ped] in London [uk] .I cant compare it with Iran.

I`ve done some search and find VT will issue licence without ss#.So next year university is going to apply green card for us and God knows how long it takes because after 3 yrs California close your file and you have to take the horrible Nclex exam again.That`s for sure that I`m not going to do it again.I took so many exam in my country ,Uk and US but Nclex is the most terrible exam that i have ever SEEN:eek:.No way to retake it again.

NM = New Mexico, and I would take Suzanne's advice.

Very interesting, sounds like healthcare is Iran is very techinical and high standards. You have travelled alot and bring a very interesting prespective to nursing. Also as a mother of twins you would be able to sympathize with the new mothers in NICU.
