Since I passed the CPNE and waiting on the FCCA to arrive at my home. I was wondering what all the recent CPNE'er are going to do about employment after EC. I know Lunah did an internship in the ED. What are others going to do. I want to do an intership at a Local Hospital in my area. They have one in July which I am praying that I can get into. I am sure it's competative. So say for instance I cannot get into an internship, do most hospital have long orientations for new nurses that do not get into internships? Am I making sense?

The hospitals around here give about 6-8 weeks orientation for new RN's on the typical med surg floor. I have seen ads for an internship in more specialized fields (ICU and maternity) that last a little longer.

Child of GOD, don't worry about finding a job . I am in a traditional program and will be taking my finals on tuesday. My pinning will be january 14th. All I hear everyday is bad news about people beening laidoff and hiring freeze. But I tell you what, GOD is our source not what the expect says. I believe that GOD will give us divine connections and when the time comes we will have a job just for us.
What awesome encouragement! I too am a believer in God and I know he will lay out the perfect opportunity for me. Congratulations on you Great achievement and best wishes to you!

I am an LVN currently working tele and soon to be in a cardiac step-down (new unit), and am waiting CPNE date, will I have to intern, is that some sort of requirement? I thought I would continue in my position but at GN(RN) status. Please let me know. I am a little confused. Thanks Terri

For me it was a requirement to train in before I worked as a GN in my current job because the scope is a little different than when I was an LPN. I would think some training would be required, for me it was only like 7 days additional training to be a GN

I was hired in the hospital where I had worked as a CNA (even after I was an LPN I kept my CNA job b/c they don't hire LPN's in hospitals here), in surgical oncology and I didn't have to wait for an internship.

I recently graduated from EC with my BSN. I will remain in my current job in the ED. I may continue further for my NP but haven't made up my mind yet.
I am an official graduate nurse as of today. I took my finals last night and just found out that I passed. Thank you Jesus.

Keeping the job I have. It pays more than an entry level RN here, and I don't do shifts, weekends, or holidays. Plus, I like it.
