New Grads and Clinical Hours

New Grads,

How many clinical hours did you have total when you graduated?

I wanting hear from BSN and ADN grads.:wink2:

I am curious because my school claims that we got more than any other school in the state.

I dont know if I believe it!!!

Two year program with one year of pre-requisite courses. AAS community college based program. Completed about 900 hours not including pre-clinical work, on call time, or community service.

Quality experience in nursing homes, general hospitals, home health, child development/rehab centre, and even a large Indian hospital. Rotated through all specialties and had to do a delivery or take call until we could get one under our belt.

I'm not from near you, from New Zealand. Doing a BHsc (Nursing) and we get 1500 clinical hours before graduation, for a 3 year degree. It's supposed to be pretty important around here and Australia on how many hours u have had

1700hrs over three years for a bachelor of nursing in Australia.

I went to a school in WA, 550 clinical hours

6 hrs/week x 5 semesters = 600 hrs

+ 8 week summer internship (which was highly recommended, though not mandatory) at 40 hrs/week = 320 hrs

Total 920 hrs for BSN

I find the comparision with our European and Aussie/Kiwi colleagues interesting.

My clinical hours total is 1,232 for a DPL in Philadelphia (Frankford, now Aria Health). Twas very hard, but leaves you feeling prepared. Graduate in April, then just have to find a job......

does the state board of nursing determine the number of clinical hours needed to get your RN or does each school have the say in how much clinical time students get?
