New Grad Salary in NYC

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi all!! I was wondering what the new grad salary is in NYC. I would like to know what hospitals are offering new grads these days.

Specializes in Critical Care.

sounds about right for Sinai. Ex sinai LPN

MSK is 87,500 with BSN and then once you add in night differential it's 97,500

NYU Langone is 90k with BSN and then every 2 years you can receive an added 2k (max of 6k) if you move up the clinical ladder

Specializes in Neurosurgery, Neurology.

Is that 90K with night differential? I work at NYP and have heard from people hired very recently that NYP's salary is 88K with night diff for new grads, and I had assumed that was the highest in NYC. Guess NYU is slightly higher then.

Specializes in MedSurg, PACU, Maternal/Child Health.

Salary varies by facility. ..city hospitals pay less but benefits are what draws more people to them. As a new grad....its very rare you will have a choice of hospitals that wan hire...so whatever you get go there and also...dont try to negotiate salary...hospitals will on do that if you have experience. But if you need extensive orientation as new grads do...hospitals are already losing money since you dont get your own patients til two months into orientation.

And also...the higher you get paid...they more taxes they take out so salary differences are not very significant after taxes. Sucks but its true. And living costs here are higher every year...rent is getting ridiculous.

Estrellacr you're right. I went on paycheck city to do a comparison of 70k salary and 90k salary and the only difference is a $700 difference. I mean 700 is a lot but not much of a difference. Im sure a 70k salary nurse can make up that diffrence with overtime.

The salary from NYP I received with night differential is a little bit more than 91k

Specializes in PSYCH.

From what I hear:

Mount Sinai Medical Center: $43.69/hr+BSN+Nights: $47.35 (approx 92K/yr)

MSKCC: 87.5k +BSN+Nights: 94.5K

NYP: 86k+BSN+Nights: 92K

Northwell New Hyde Park (formally NS LIJ): 79k +BSN+Nights: 86K

All NYP'S are not the same. NYP Queens base is $82 and change, before differential.
