Try Promedica out of Toledo OH, Allegiance out of Jackson MI (I have to cancel my interview for them and decline the position) and University of Michigan both hospitals, I put out a few apps and resumes on a saturday and started getting calls by Monday, within 2 weeks I landed my dream job at UofM, they are opening a new hospital, C.S. Motts and Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital alot of the unit managers are posting jobs a few at a time until full. It opens phase 1 in Nov and then phase 2 for some units January, I start orientation Nov 28th. http://umjobs.org/search promedica & Allegiance will come up in google, also there are others in Toledo OH and Ann Arbor that aren't affiliated with a huge organization, just google map hospitals.

Where are all the 2012 New Grads in So. FL...Is anyone having any luck?

Hi PrincessO, I'm a May 2012 grad, licensed since May 18th. I have applied to many, many positions with no luck. The only response I get is an email explaining that they have "gone with someone more qualified". This weekend I decided that I might as well start applying at LTC and see if I get anything. I know that the census is low in the summer. Even when I was doing my last clinical rotation in April there were nurses being called off for low census. I have been hired at an immunization clinic that begins in August. For now I will try to be patient....

Hi A~L~B, I graduated in March and liscensed in April. I have been getting the same response when filling out apps online. I recently got hired Per Diem in LTC and will be starting at the immunization clinic in August as well. Have you applied to any of the new grad programs? I applied to a few, but haven't herd anything yet. Keep me posted on your job hunt. Take Care.

I have applied to a couple of the new grad programs with no response. It is very discouraging but I also know that it will take time. Tenet doesn't even change the status or send an email to let you know that you aren't being considered :( I just got PALS and ACLS certifications to make myself more marketable.

How was your ACLS and PALS classes? Did you do them over one day? Did you have to study from the book a month in advance? Please if you don't mind share your experiences.

Everyone that I have talked to said getting additional certifications make you more marketable so don't give up.

ACLS and PALS were a little stressful as an inexperienced nurse. I took them at Broward College and they were each two days long. I studied for them for a couple of weeks before.

Hello everyone! It is tough out there but there is hope!! I passed my boards for the second time in Aug 2012, worked on my resume/cover letter for about 2 weeks (changed it for each specific position) started applying for jobs the end of Sept (September 26 to be exact) got 5 "not under considerations" and 1 call back (September 28, 2 days later!!!) from a nurse recruiter from a New Grad Program to interview that same day!! Which I couldn't do because I have 2 small children at home..it was a Friday so she just asked if I could come in that Monday....The program starts in 2 weeks, 0ct 15th, $7500 contract, 12 weeks of paid training ($15/hr) plus $1000 bonus after 1st 6weeks then another $1000 the 2nd 6weeks and then they disburse $5500 when you transition ovr to the hospital you will be working for which will start me at $22/hr....I am sooooooo thankful, and I will take it, get the 2yr experience and THEN be picky abouthow much I'm going to make! Btw I'm from miami, fl but relocated to the port st. Lucie area, and this position is about 40 min away in a little western town called Okeechobee, Fl...Keep your heads up guys, it will all come together for you, just keep pushing, be hopeful, and something will come up when you least expect it, it did for me.....

Nurse2B-I'm nearing the end of the same new grad program, mine started in July. 2 more weeks and I'm on hospital payroll! I feel so lucky to have a job. It was a tough 6 weeks in the classroom! So much information, simulations, computer modules from home, and the exam at the end. Are you in the ED course or is there a new med-surg/telemetry/ICU? I was in the combo course for ICU. I feel like I was much better prepared to be in the hospital after 6 weeks of classroom. Good luck to you!

Hey, I know it's been awhile, but are you still there? How did it pan out for you? I interviewed today with two hospital officials. I'm a bit confused about some things, and will ask the recruiter when she comes back next week. Pay, sign on bonuses were not discussed. I have many questions...I asked a few of them, but didn't want to ask too many as I was the one being interviewed lol! It was explained that I would be going back and forth from Raulerson to Lawnwood to train for med/surg. Originally, I thought I was being interviewed for the ED internship (I'm a brand-new grad btw), but somehow between the two interviews today I was offered a med/surg position that I will happily take. However, I'm still very confused about if I'm going to be paid during the 6 week training, and how much. Then I'm supposed to have a preceptor for another 6 weeks I believe. It was mentioned that I would be on Parallon's payroll until I come on board with the hospital...also, if it's for med/surg why I am waiting until the end of July to start as that is the start date for the ED internship. Also, relocation payment is mentioned on their website, but was not discussed today, nor my starting pay. I kinda need to know these things so I can formulate a budget, and find a rental I can afford. I will be moving almost two hundred miles for this opportunity. I stayed overnight in a hotel so I could attend the interview today and paid about 70 in gas. I'm a broke single-mom new grad lol! Anyway, if you can share more details and let me know how you like there, I would so appreciate the heads up!!
