New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

anyone here experienced having their old eligibilities reissued with new ones from AHPRA?

do I need to re-do everything? send all the school and PRC docs that AHPRA needs? and pay again?

@isobelle and bellaire re: VCHN

The MRSA screening can also be done there. My sister went with that route. Don't worry about it that much. However, make sure you bring all original results with you. She forgot one and we had to send hers by courier.

thanks needlefoxRN. do u mean to say having MRSA screening when in australia? if that is so, wouldn't it be more expensive?

I tried to call ahpra a couple of times but a voice machine keeps on advising me to call again later. Is ahpra still on holiday? I badly need to talk to them.

at what time did you call them? they are open from 9am to 5pm, but take note of the time difference. I called them early December at around 1pm, Philippine time and somebody answered..

i found out in TV patrol and bandila that volunteer experience is not recognized abroad. is this true for australia?

which of the two has a higher chance of getting hired in australia, a local grad with no experience or a foreign grad with volunteer/training experience?

I also called them late december and they answered, but now I've been trying for 2 days already.

=( my BP will start this friday and I still dont have my visa... huhuhuhu

:( what happened?

Happy new year everyone!!!!

W-O-W because this thread is still alive! I see cioman is already in Australia! :yeah:

After all this time, i haven't passed my application. I printed it out, answered it, did my CV and that was it. Had too many things to do these past couple of months. I almost forgot my username here and had to try a few to post again hihihi

Congrats to everyone that has made it through. My new year's resolution is to stick to my plan of going there. Good luck to everyone else :)

Hi! Regarding ARNTP.. kindly check: University of South Australia - Program ARNTP, Australian Registered Nurse Training Program (2010)

Yes, you don't need APRHRA's eligibility letter as long as you meet their requirements: (University of South Australia-UNISA will be the one to assess your credentials)

Graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

Has anyone applied to this one? Please share:)

it somehow varies depending on the instruction written or given to you. some are just required with one or two additional docs.. so what is the specific instruction given to you by Ahpra?? ...normally, documents you submitted will not be required again because it is with them already, also, you do not have to pay again (unless they say you must pay additional amount because of increase in fees), and some were required to fill up the new forms.. so it depends,..

i tried calling AHPRA today, cant get thru, are they still on holiday?

thanks cioman!

the school told me that i need a new letter for my enrolment, but last year December they said that its ok to use the old one :( ,, i really don't know how to process it, i tried calling them to no avail, so i emailed them, from experience they usually reply after 2 weeks,,i dunno how many weeks of delay this would cause :(
