Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
I do not want to sound like a party pooper, but Australia is far from needy for overseas nurses, especially ones with NO experience, please consider this and do not go in with these 'rose coloured glasses' that everyone seems to have......BP - registration-great Australian dream. Please be prepared for long wait....you spend a lot of money getting this far.....think about it first......though if you do not try you will never know, but be prepared with lots of money...find a relative.....or be prepared to apply through ANMAC who will assess your registration and get you through faster immigation, this may mean to return home for a couple of months, but its better than sitting around waiting for job offers spending more money.
Then, as said before, you will have PR and can apply for the part-time jobs and casual work is overflowing at times. No one listens...
Ceridwyn is right on this matter. Having experience is a big big factor in being hired for a job here in Australia. Get a lot of experience first and you'll make it easier for yourself in the end. I'm not saying that it's impossible to get a job without work experience but you'll have a difficult time getting employers to notice you.

Hello cioman! I'm happy you're doing well! By the way, clear up your inbox so I can reply to you. Happy New Year!
hello! i'm new here and for starters, I have read some of the messages about the new registration process for nurses. Could anybody clarify on whether or not the time for overseas nurses who have an approval from NMBWA and needs to complete a BP has been extended from 2 to 3 years? Has anybody heard such news?
hey everyone...im a nurse from the philippines, i applied for a NZ student visa, and have found a slot in a school there for the CAP program..I had my medical exams and the results came out fine..but the problem is i wasn't able to come back for th einital reading of my PPD result, so i had to do it again..my agency forwarder my results and pplication to the embassy..the Visa officer called me and told me that my PPD result was the one that was delaying my visa processing..so i went back to have a PPD test done again..the result was negative..now its been more than month and my visa is still under process was referred to the medical assesror for further evaluation. i am worried i wont be able to make it on Jan. 19 for the commencement of my classes. Can someone enlighten me on this? or has anyone experienced this? thanks in advance..:)))
Hi superborj! Just want to ask if you already have working experience here in the Philippines? I also applied in NZ but the council suggested that I need to have at least 2 years of paid work experience in a hospital because CAP schools in NZ woulsd not allow me to undergo their assessment program if I do not have the said experience. Is this true? Thanks a lot in advance.

job jobs....
for those who are artistic ("ma-arte"), who do not have substantial experience and who do not want to work in aged care in rural areas, good luck on your job hunting, hope you will succeed just like others who did it..
for those who are willing to work in aged care in rural areas, and who do not have adequate experience, then jobs are here... in my nursing home, we need RNs, and our February schedule is in a big mess because we lack manpower... a senior RN will retire middle this year, another nurse will resign and transfer to another company, my fellow filipino RN will resign at the end of this year.. we need nurses in rural areas.. just prepare a good resume, and do well in the interview, and you will have great chances, aged care companies are a bit lenient or very accepting in training new RNs, no worries mate..
and as what one of the forumers mentioned, brushed up your english speaking skills, i got 7 ielts in speaking but men, it's different when in person, i could not understand what they were saying (when i arrived here), and the more you will not understand what the residents are saying because most of them have impairments, i have to get my AIN to help me talk to the resident, but im just lucky, the AINs here who are all Australians are very very nice people..
dont forget that the rental in the major cities are very very expensive, here my personal expenditures is not high, you will save a lot esp. if you do not have debts to pay in the phils... i reckoned, your first year here, your income/savings will be used to buy personal properties (tv, pc, cp, kitchen, etc.) and car... by the 2nd year, your savings is an excess money, spend it what suits you, e.g. better car, better electronics, holiday vacation in europe, or invest in somewhere.. good to be here in Oz mate.. life is easy if you just not greedy and you just look things at a proper perspective.... my perspective? l consider myself as "semi-retire", i work, i dont stress myself with office politics or career promotion, i save, exercise, stay healthy, spend on something that interests me, invest my savings, go on vacation (i.e. annual vacation with pay!), you will not be super rich here as RNs but you will have more than enough esp. if you are simple person (not those "social" pipol we have there in phils. pa social but no money at all)..
be patient and lots of prayer... you;ll make it, just taper your ambitions and be a bit realistic, put things in proper perspective, and you will see the light.... may the force be with you.. cheers mate,,,
