New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

What year were they hired and sponsored with a working visa? TIA!

that was last year. my cousin even got the scholarship from ACFE's IRON Program so she didnt pay the whole tuition fee, only part of it. I am not saying that it is very easy to find a job both of them had difficulties since employers are turned off if applicants need sponsorship since its quite a long process and they need someone who can start right away. I think luck also is involved and of course patience. :)

Tasmanian nurses are being layed off and are now going to the mainland states, mainly NSW and QLD for work the last few months. Of their 350 new graduates last year there was only work for 60, they have also needed to apply to mainland hospitals for work, with no experience.

Not many PI nurses come back to tell the forum how they are going, whether too busy or think they are "saving face"" by not posting any difficulties they are having, getting work.

A good indicator if the country would be needing more nurses in the near future are construction of hospitals around, hence my question to all of you based in Australia, DO YOU SEE HOSPITALS BEING BUILT AROUND YOUR CITY? And another indicator is the average AGE of Aussie nurses. And the last one is, what do Aussies think of taking up nursing as a career as compared to becoming an Enginner, Doctor, Lawyer, IT expert, etc.

[color=#333333]hi i'm a filipino rn and i'm currently working on my application with ahpra. can you please help me with my cv? there's a standard format provided at the ahpra website i know. but still i'm confused. [color=#333333]is anyone here willing to share with me a sample cv which i can follow as my guide? [color=#333333]thank you so much. may god bless you. ^_^

Hi..I'm a newbie here.. I just sent my application to aphra-vic last friday with hopes for success on the processing. I wonder if there's anyone who successfully received there LOE from vic as I wanted to know if they still require reference letters and CPD. TIA!

I know it is a most important concern, to international nurses that the average age of an Áustralian Nurse is 45 to 50, our retirement age is 65 and due to the economic downturn at the moment these nurses are often the only income earner in the family.

There are not new hospitals being built everywhere, in fact beds are being closed. There is a new hospital being built on the Gold Coast and parts of Qld but often these are being built to replace old hospitals that are not big enough or not of building standards.

Rest assured the majority of Áustralian nurses will not be retiring until they are near 65y.

Australia is now recruiting on the basis of need and to spend time and money on a nurse, a hospital or nursing home, needs to be filling a position that an Australian nurse is not available for and this is usually a nurse that is experienced in a shortage area, icu, theatre.

There has been a massive increase in university places for nursing students and the hope is that Australia can provide a great majority of nurses required in the future.

The Phillipines is not the only country where nurses wish to emmigrate and Australia appears to be the only country that does have nursing jobs available, therefore there are many, many nurses in supply for the moderate demand.

The question asked is for now, and the answer is, it is not as easy as it was and be prepared. It is not a walk in the park, especially if you have no experience to get a job.

Does the INTERNSHIP refer to the clinical rotations at school?

Hi! I just received my LOE from AHPRA-Vic last month. And they were pretty damn quick: about 3 weeks! What are you referring to when you say reference letter? Is it a letter from your current/latest employer? If it`s that sort, I didn`t submit anything like that. I just submitted a Statement of Service which followed the format discussed on the first page of this forum and let my employers sign it. As it turned out, everything went smoothly.

I`m sorry but I don`t know what CPD means. So unless you would enlighten me with this, I cannot help you.

Good luck mate!

Hi nurses, is there still anybody here who's waiting for the response from CON for the intake next year or probably january? I'm still waiting
