New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Thank you for your application forregistration as a registered nurse. The assessment is now complete and you areconsidered eligible for registration as a registered nurse in Australia. It isanticipated that registration as a registered nurse will be granted when youattend the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Office andmeet the AHPRA proof of identity and criminal history requirements.UnderNational Law, the Board has up to 90 days to consider an application. On thisoccasion, the Board proposes to extend the period for considering yourapplication past the 90 days to allow you time to meet outstandingrequirements. The period of consideration is now extended to 10 June 2013, andunless you advise the Board in writing within the next 10 days, it will betaken that you agree to the extension. It should be noted that, if theconsideration time is not extended and the 90-day period expires prior to theBoard making a decision, in accordance with section 85 of the National Law itwill be taken to be a decision to refuse to register.Information relating to proof ofidentity and criminal history requirements are published on the AHPRA website:Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency - Home

Please note that thisassessment determination is valid for twelve months from the date of thisletter as indicated above. After this time you must contact the AHPRA officefor further advice as you may be required to submit additional documentation tosatisfy AHPRA's requirements before registration is granted. For yourinformation, once registration is granted you will be entitled to work in allStates and Territories of Australia.

yes i think thats possible for you. i have batchmates who applied to BP right after they grad and they are working fine as nurse in Perth. as to my friend's cousin, he doesnt have any experience at all but he's in canberra an*ICU nurse now. i just wonder how they make it really quick.. but money works was surely part of it.. hope we can get thru this too :)

i really wish i pass ielts this time. i always fell a point short with reading...

Really? So you're just waitin for the result? I will sit the ielts next month hopefully :)

Btw, BP lasts for 2-3 months :)

Hmmmmm if i happen to get the score i needed in ielts, and as what ceridwyn has said that i can apply without experience, then i think i will apply right away :)

2-3 months only? even if we only have volunteer experience?

Congratulations cheskaval121!!

Are you by any chance in the Philippines? If you are, I suggest that you still undergo visa evidencing/stamping on your passport as the immigration area in the airport can be very tedious (more like suspicious) when it comes to fellow countrymen departing for abroad.

Yes im from philippines. How can i have my visa stamped on my passport? It just arrived yesterday and im scheduled to leave this weekend.

Yes! From what i know, BP only takes 2-3 months :) after successfully completing BP, you can apply for registration as nurse at AHPRA :)

hahaha.. All the schools who offer BP have the duration of the course really :) try to check ETEA, CON, La Trobe etc :)

It's the letter of eligibility from Ahpra allowing you to finish a bridging course first before you can register as a nurse..

Yes it's one of the shools requirements when you apply for BP.. Hmmm there are a lot of schools to choose from, the website also have a list of the schools you can have your BP.. I think CON offers the cheapest for BP, i'm not so sure about that.. :)

thanks dream:)

have you worked as a nurse in an english speaking country for 3 months? it looks like they have granted you registration and you just need to show proof of identity at an ahpra office to get your registration. there is no bp requirement mentioned.

Really? When did your batchmate applied at Ahpra? Do you happen to know where they sent their applications? :) im really excited! :)

I hope i can get the needed score in ielts next month :)

its actually a long time ago. it was in 2008 i guess. we are not in chummy terms really. we just say hi. it was our common friend who told me about it and convince me that we should do the same:)

her cousin on the other hand applied directly to the school and maybe i misunderstood it all the while. i thought BP=AHPRA registration so maybe he registered after he finished the BP. again, his BP lasted for 8months and he almost spent 800,000 php. thats y im having confusion now:(*

i wish you will pass it :) just have faith, God provides...
