New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

What is the usual processing time in AHPRA-WA? I lodged my application in March. And while waiting, my IELTS expired. Would they still reconsider?

hi. ahpra-wa takes the longest time nowadays. my friend lodged her application september 2011 and still no approval yet. i think they would accept an expired IELTS but i advise you to take it asap. ;)

All BP takers, aside from the College of Nursing, what BP provider would be nearest in Sydney and how much is the tuition fee? Can an angel post here the list of BP providers including the course fees? Thanks a lot cos i am planning to enroll to a different school. CON is not even accomodating.

hi shaneneo,

how much was etea's? and how long did it take you to process it? Im planning to go for october intake too. TIA.

can i have your number? so that i could call you ASAP. TF at ETEA is $ 16000 AUD. $8000 AUD acceptance deposit. enroll now and submit your documents so that we could be together for October 2012 intake... where are you from in PH?

hi meki, i read your link..is that the program wherein after you're eligible for that permanent residence visa? i sooo hope you'd answer..and may i ask, in what program are you?

Hi @zara06

I was just answering marklouiemarco's question. Hehe. But I think no form of study would lead initially to permanent residency here in Australia. Have you already had your credentials assessed by AHPRA Nursing and Midwifery Board? You will find more information in their website (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia - Home) They will then provide you a Letter of Eligibility that you can present to the different bridging programme courses offered in this link. :o

@marklouiemarco : the above link I posted for zara06 might be useful for you, as it is indicated there the programmes of the different universities/schools in the different states. There's not much choices in New South Wales though. You might want to try those programmes in ACT, as it's only a few hours away from Sydney by bus.

thanks!! :) you mentioned that CON is by far the cheapest..may i ask how much istheir tuition fee? CON stands for The College of Nursing?

thanks meki, :) i just read that from the part one of this forum..hehe :) you guys are sooo helpful..i'm so happy to discover this forum :)

I'm in Oz. MHTI already scheduled me last week for an interview this Thursday that's why I can't decide at the moment for IHNA. They are waiting for my confirmation. Hoping for the best. So you're for June 25 intake Melbourne? Hmmmm you better be quick in paying or else they might be giving me your slot LOL :p

nope, i'm for the august intake, dear :) i hope MHTI gets to provide you with feedback right away :)

how long have you been there btw? you're in a student visa? :)

Specializes in ER/ Radiology Nurse.
Hi... MHTI is Mercy Health Training Institute... Obviously, it is not that hard to get in ETEA, they are not strict, continuously accepting students and they have more intakes in a year than any other BP schools. The fee is ridiculously expensive. Its a total rip off! Try to apply other school $4,000 difference is a lot of money. Well, if you can afford it go for it. Here's the website of MHTI...Mercy Health Training Institute - Return to Practice Program (RTP) and Initial Registration for Overseas Qualified NursesSubmitted my application last week and will be interviewed this thursday.Goodluck.
hi! do you happen to know the intake schedule of MHTI for the IRON Program this 2012? thanks in advance!

You already asked me that buddy. I wasn't sure about MHTI when you asked me before. MHTI $12,000 and ETEA $16,000.

I think its the same as IHNA, they will tell you right after the interview if you pass. Yep, I was in a student visa... My visa runs out so I'm in tourist visa atm while waiting for my BP.
