New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Hi creampuff!

Are you also for the october intake in Unisa?have u paid the tuition fee already? I am in the process of application. I hope I get in. :)

Lol my phone is playing up, didn't finish my message. As I was saying, just hoping to pass my interview in IHNA and MHTI.

@MHTI? What does it stands for?

My letter from AHPRA will expire Jan 2013 as well and still waiting for other affordable schools to take me in...

Applied in ETEA passed the interview and everything just waiting fro the Letter of offer. I know its expensive dont have a choice other BP schools have a long line up and some don't offer BP anymore till next year.

Im in for September intake but if I can find and have a less expensive one and the earlier intake i will grab it and take the risk...

Um I have a question about the minimum year/s of experience required to apply for the bridging program in Australia? Weeks ago, I called a consultancy firm and said that it should be at least 1 year hospital experience. Then I called again today and the one who answered me said 2 years. I'm confused. And she said that they do accept volunteers as long as it says "Certificate of Employment."

Yes, this consultancy firm has changed its requirements. This is most likely due to it becoming more difficult to find work through sponsorship now and they want their money back. If you have 2 years of employment as a nurse then you have something to offer to an Australian employer and have a greater chance to find work by sponsorship if there is any.

It is not an AHPRA requirement as long as it is less than two years since you qualified. If it is two years since you qualified, then you are no longer seen as a new graduate and must have done some sort of professional development of 20 hours each year over the 2 years, as this is a requirement of nurses in Australia that are over 2 years qualified and 3months practise as a nurse. They (AHPRA) were accepting the volunteer thing.

Hi... MHTI is Mercy Health Training Institute... Obviously, it is not that hard to get in ETEA, they are not strict, continuously accepting students and they have more intakes in a year than any other BP schools. The fee is ridiculously expensive. Its a total rip off! Try to apply other school $4,000 difference is a lot of money. Well, if you can afford it go for it. Here's the website of MHTI...
