New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Looks like the programme of the University of Wollongong would take two years.

hi guys! i'm super new to this forum and i'm really lost..may I ask what are those COE, LOE and what does CON stand for? and in what programs are you guys? is it for the bridging program or that BN, MN program?

i badly need help here..hehe :)

Specializes in MED-SURG , I.C.U, TELEMETRY.
Hi jim! I also applied in UniSA but still have to submit a document :) I think the program is good because I've heard they are not that strict with admissions and while waiting for the LoE from AHPRA, it's better to study the bridging course (ARNTP). The only disadvantages I see are: 1. It's more expensive 2. Takes more time to complete (6 months vs 3 months in other schools). But they say the cost of living in adelaide is low so it is good anyway :) i hope I get to meet more people who would take the course this october so we would all be together in a flat/apartment which means more fun and lesser cost of accommodation :) so keep in touch! God bless to all of us! 

I will also submit an application for unisa. But most likely will be doing it next May.

hi meki, i read your link..is that the program wherein after you're eligible for that permanent residence visa? i sooo hope you'd answer..and may i ask, in what program are you?

Hi you must try to contact your officer from time to time, i passed my application July 2011, got approved just 2 weeks ago so it took me 10 months. How come yours hasn't arrived yet and also to tell you, waiting doesn't stop there. If you're going to enroll at the college of nursing just like what i did, you need patience. Another suggestion, try to gather all documents needed for your school as early as possible :)

what state did you apply to get your LOE?

Well since i'm really worried about the september intake, i emailed the CON just now and hopefully she replies tomorrow. I'm here in the PH still waiting for the enrollment so that i can move on to the visa processing. Currently employed in a BPO with no hospital experience at all

hi there!! could you please help me :) i also want to be a nurse there in Australia and i'm really lost in this forum, i read that you don't have any hospital experience, in my part i'm currently a trainee in a hospital here in PH but i read that if you're not paid, that doesn't count as an experience so basically it's kinda useless (learning aside). Could you please tell me what the steps are? or should I start with AHPRA and what are my options?

thanks :)

hi dreamer_rn, sorry if i'm a bother could you help me out as well, i'm really lost in this forum..could you please enumerate me the steps to go through. Please..pretty please.

Your hospital experience can be counted if you can ask your hospital if they can put that you are a staff registered nurse there. You should start submitting your complete application to AHPRA as soon as possible while the rules are not changing yet. You have to work on it the fastest time possible
