New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

My friends and I are looking for a house/apartment/rooms that we could rent in heidelberg. So far, we've only seen single room shared accommodation that can only accommodate 1 person.

If you know a place or a website we can visit, kindly refer us or give us the web address so we can check it out.

all your replies will be highly appreciated.

what branch did you submit yours? if NSW, can you pm me the name and number? i submitted mine 2 months ago. the only hard copy letter i have received from them was the AHPRA fee receipt. there was no name and contact number of the case manager there. but they update me rarely by e-mail. so they sent you a snail mail just to inform you to submit an IELTS TRF again? they informed me of my follow up documents through e-mail.

I initially sent my application to NBV (before AHPRA commenced) but NBV wasnt able to assess some of us , so they asked us to reapply to AHPRA. I sent my second application to AHPRA Victora thinking it would be wise because they already had my PRC and IELTS on that time... I have a feeling that they prioritized the applications that were not processed by NBV. And yes, it was a snail mail, and the name of my registration officer and her contact number was indicated in the letter. I honestly think that you will receive a letter like mine in due time, informing you your application status...

I have once asked AHPRA through their website enquiry page if they were able to received my application and I had a response after a month informing me that they already have it.

I have been mentoring a few EN students and RN students lately and they have been told that it is at least a 2 month wait for them to be registered with the board.

They tell me stories of previous groups that tried to register around June, July had to wait till near October to be registered even though they had grad positions.

Now I do not want AHPRA to be blamed for this as many professional bodies came together at this time, so it must have been and possibly still is very chaotic, even with the most careful planning, especially when Australia became the flavour of the month to nearly every country in the world, as they still have nursing positions for experienced nurses and have not appeared to be effected as much by the big American sneeze.

I think they have done a great job after 3-4 months to attend international applications compared to other countries that appear to take 6-8 months.

So on that note, I doubt that any international applications NBV nor to AHPRA were given any priority when they had local graduate applicants needing registration and this would include all those on visas that have completed their bridging courses all stressing because they need that registration to stay. This we know is happening in nursing, there must have been many other new graduates and international applicants to all the other professions as well.

There will be a few thousand graduate health professionals locally applying for registration with the board over the next couple of months, so I would not stress that it takes longer than previously available with the state boards to international applicants. :twocents:

For those anticipating an eligibility letter soon, would it be wise to have our medicals now prior to lodging our visa? Also, has anyone attended their BP in Mercy Health? How was it? Any feedback will be very much appreciated. Thanks a lot.

I am also looking for a flat near heidelberg. It's really hard to find one. :uhoh3:

hi.. ive read this comment somewhere..

"I also opened up the theory you guys were talking about. She agreed that Victoria and NSW are the busiest of all the states. But she told me that if you have indicated in your application the state where you would want to work and submitted your docs in a different one, then they will pass your application to the state you plan to do your nursing. (I think this is the question to #6 in AGOS-04, for those of you who answered it).””

please could anybody help me answer #6 in the AGOS form? my initial answer is the place where i am residing (bcoz its also my principal place of practice-quezon city) is that right?? after reading this comment, im now totally lost! please help me.. i will be mailing my docs this week.. help please?
