Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
Hi All,
Does anybody know if the AHPRA Eligibility letter can be renewed? I asked my registration officer for extension, stating my valid reasons, but she told me this:
Unfortunately it is not AHPRA's responsibility to ensure that enough places are offered for all nursing courses. AHPRA's current policy allows a year-long eligibility for bridging programs and no extension can be granted.
So it seems like I won't be granted an extension and my LOE is due to expire this Oct 20th 2012. I registered through AHPRA VIC, and has only 12 months in my LOE eligibility (including completion of bridging course). Isn't it unfair that while AHPRA WA grants 24 months in their LOE's and AHPRA QLD allows extensions, I am not considered? I am just so unlucky to be left out on vacant places in every school I've applied to. Now I can't even start sending applications to other schools because 7.0 IELTS is one of their requirements so I have to resit the exam before anything elso, in order to renew the one that will expire on June 5th 2012. I'm so bummed. What should I do? If AHPRA could just consider the fact that schools are filling up so fast and my situation is beyond my control..

Any kind of advice would be of great help. TIA

try College of Nursing in Sydney and ACFE. :)
in my case . .i had it translated . .but my friend submitted her TOR and Course Description to AHPRA-WA without translating the Filipino subjects and it was approved by AHPRA . . She's done with her bridging program and she had no problems about TOR and course description when applying to schools. . and I think the most important are the Nursing related subjects. . . I hope this will enlighten you . .
hi ladydee-rn,
i was wondering where you had your docs translated? my diploma was in filipino. any help would be wonderful. TIA!

Hey erikadioza.
I'm actually in the same situation as you are although I still don't have my eligibility letter. I haven't even started my application since AHPRA requires at least 3 months experience. Haha. I know of schools who accept overseas nurses without experience. How were you able to acquire an eligibility letter without experience though? Maybe we can help each other out. Add me up in facebook: [email protected]. Same with my ym.
Arggggh! Prior to sending out the above message, i thought all was okay. i received yesterday my assessment letter and states among others that I need to submit a coe whether my employment was full time or part time. My agency having handled many successful applicants before would have notified me of this and im confident they know their job. it seems that these developments may have been new issues? Since apparently most are recent ones? TAke note that as of march 27, 2012, there is a new AGOS form where we have to sign both 1st and last pages . . . . . and notarized docs should include the notary'scontact number. Im not sure if the later is a new thing. Any feedback on this?
Hi tokiya!
so how did you go about this one? i need some advice since i cant miss this one chance this time. the hospital im working with now, doesnt release COE's as easily. the only thing im missing from my COE was whether i was part time or full time, but im not too sure. I might overlook something else. btw, have you resend your documents?
thanks in advance,
kit
Hi Glitz,
I did apply to LTU Bendigo, for the May 2012 but it filled up before I could find the money for the tuition. Their next intake is on January 2013. It's not that easy for me to find the resources, you know, I'm the family's breadwinner and I have no rich relatives. So I have no choice but to get help from an agency who will shoulder all expenses. But schools really fills up so fast so now the nearest intake is August in ETEA but I'm getting worried that my chances of getting in will lessen because I have to wait for the result of the IELTS that I'll resit on June 9. Results will be 13 days after exam date. And ETEA is my only chance for BP since AHPRA agreed to allow an extension given that it will start on August and end in November, not that far away from my LOE's expiry date.
I thought it was in WA that LOE's are 24 months in validity. Must have been in another state. I'm sure I've read somewhere in this thread that a forumer's LOE is 24 months valid.
