Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

i am so excited about taking the ielts exam this mid-year.i'm still weighing my options and i'm thinking of pursuing a career as an er nurse/med-surg nurse in new zealand/oz/canada.betcha the route to nz is way cheaper than the others..around half a million pesos and i will be the one to process my application..no thanks to all the opportunistic consultancy/agencies that are mutating madly like a frog and whose fees are skyrocketing..yuhoo...thanks for this very informative thread..kudos!! :)))
Hi guys, its my first time to post something here but I have been reading this forum for quite sometime. Thank you so much for the people who are so generous in helping Filipino nurses easier for them to achieve their goal. Anyhow, I am just wondering who are going to AAON this July/August 2012? Or anyone can tell me any other program providers that is better, cheaper and easier to apply to? Thanks in advance.
hi guys! i received an email from ahpra requiring me to send additional documents. parts of the email are the following statements:
a current nursing/midwifery professional reference from a senior nurse/midwife with a supervisory role in relation to your nursing/midwifery employment. the reference should be on official employer letterhead, dated and signed and contain the following information:
- dates of employment.
- attest to your safe and competent practice as a nurse/midwife
- state the level/grade of position.
- indicate whether your employment is/was full time or part time.
- state the duties and scope of the role.
- indicate the practice setting.
- state whether you work/ed in a supervised or unsupervised capacity.
- detail the experience gained in the role e.g clinical, education, research, management.
i would like to ask if some of you have an example of this reference letter please pm me because i really don't have any idea how to put all of those information in one letter!
Try reading page 843 (ceridwyn's post) before sending your application. I've read several threads about nursing in NZ a few months ago, I thought they were discouraging overseas applicants because of an over supply of local nurses (I might be wrong). hi bobby123..i believe so but i think it is more difficult finding a job in oz than in nz.canada is another good option. you see i have friends who are rn's here in our country and became students/hca's/caregivers abroad.1 is in canada, 2 in uk, 5 in nz, 1 in oz. my bad, i am stucked here in the philippines with all the filthy rich and corrupt politicians around me..you know the system in our country..lol..and so i also tried applying in gulf countries 2weeks ago, however, i am still not invited for an interview..who knows?i may be overqualified for the position..just kidding!haha :))

hi aila61! i also received the same email a few days back. did you send your application to ahpra-wa too? i sent mine last december 2011 thru philman. how about you?
with regards to your concern, i believe that the mentioned reference letter must be accomplished by your head nurse/ charge nurse and not by you. i had already requested mine from our chief nurse and would just be signed together with my head nurse since both are signatories on my cv to show some sense of consistency. are you currently working as a nurse?
i am hoping to hear from you. let's continue to pray for god's grace and patiently wait with a good attitude regarding this matter! godbless! :specs:
