Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Thanks for replying Bobby123 :)Anyway I think I will ask my family to help me with the tuition so I will just focus on finding a BP program that is open
More importantly, guys in the AHPRA website IHNA's Accreditation is approved only until July 1, 2012.
Would that be a problem if you enroll after July 2012 ?? Guys pls check the approved programs od study in the AHPRA website.
Can anyone help me find a BP who is still open anytime this year who is still accredited with AHPRA.
I really need to enroll ASAP please text me at +639228698826 if you can help.
Go for any school you can get into. They would not be allowed to operate if their course would not lead to registration, it would be illegal. It is most likely red tape or their course is being assessed 'behind the scenes' and has not been updated on the database as yet.
hi good afternoon. I'm a newbie here. Im confused on how to answer question number 5 of the AGOS 40 form..
5. Is your residential address the same as your principal place of practice in Asutralia
No - Provide your principal place of practice address below.
Do I put the address of the hospital I'm currently working in the Phillipines?
Thanks much! =)
Reasonable risks are acceptable but having nil to very little experience and then putting their parents' home on loan on top of other loans on the chance that they will finish the BP, get registered and eventually get sponsored for work is just too high a risk for the misinformed to take. You will never find in this thread or any other thread how some 'dreamers' find themselves in a nightmare they can't escape from. Having either to spend more so they can stay and hopefully get sponsorship or have to return home with nothing but a registration they can't use at home and a massive loan. There were people in this thread who finished their BP; how many do you know came back to say they landed a job. At the end of the day it's your decision. What you do and how you take the information you get from here is up to you.someone is really trying to discourage all of us to apply in OZ. yeah yeah... thats the real picture of the job situation in Australia right now but c'mon.. it cant be that worse. i mean, to be able to achieve your dreams you have to take risk.. almost all who went abroad who find jobs take risk. you are not helping man..
documents while the I'll be mailing the IELTS from the country where I took the exam. (not through any agency) and any help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks mucho! PS: Hope someone could give me a definite answer. IThanks again.Ideally you'd want to apply for registration where you would like to practice but it should not really matter. Once you get your Letter of eligibility you can apply for a Bridging program in any state of Australia. If you want your documents signed for when received at an AHPRA office you should use the one with the street address otherwise use the PO box. Here's the link for AHPRA offices.http://www.ahpra.gov.au/About-AHPRA/Contact-Us.AspxShould probably send the completed application first. Other documents can follow at a later date. A case officer would remind you what documents you need to send.
[color=#454545]good day! i received this email from ahpra:
in order for an applicant to register as a registered nurse (division 1) [color=#454545]in australia they must demonstrate both theory and clinical hours in the following streams: medical/surgical, adult nursing, community nursing and mental health nursing.
does adult nursing also means geriatric nursing?
Based on LTU batches, and filos only---only about 2-5 didnt get a job. And it wasnt cz they couldnt find jobs. I know of about 2 who were sponsored but left their jobs cz they felt homesick ---very young nurses , fresh grads and couldnt handle the adjustments...plus they were rich kids back home.I dont know bout other schools though. The nurses become too busy to go back in the forums once thy are in oz cz they have too many things to do....In my part, ive never posted until after 2 yrs. cz there was just no time. Keep ur hopes up but always be ready for worst case scenario ---Eg. Dont expect u will find a job in 1-2 mos. although possible ,not all the time.
Dont give up on ur goals....They will all come to pass.
In fact, i still have 4 cousins to bring here and they are still about to take board exams. 2 have already registerd and found jobs here....
Hi, Guys. Kindly enlighten me re: health insurance while on student visa. Do I really need to pay right away the whole duration of my stay in Aus while Im on student visa or I can pay it on a monthly, quarterly basis? Im concern because what if Im not really satisfied with the insurance company and wanting to change?
I have many nurses pm me asking if I know were any jobs.
We are not warning nurses not to come, be sensible about your decision, do not take out loans with companies that do not tell the interest rate or when payments finish, or ask for the deeds of the family home or family business, because at this present time... you have a 90-10, 10 of getting a job, if you have experience. 2 years ago it was the other way around.
If many employers are sponsoring new grads from overseas, when local grads cannot find work, I challenge their recruitment practises.
Nursing Job availability is not an indefinite possibility, unlike what is advertised, it is diminishing all the time, not only are hundreds of nurses from the Phillipines trying to get work here, so are nurses from India, UK, EU, Nepal, Africa and on a more reasonable scale Canada and USA as never before. Then you have the people already immigrated here bringing in their relatives as well.
Please as a university graduate you are to have critical thinking skills, what has happened in the US, UK and now in Canada? there are definite ending of possibilities. Australia is already overhauling its immigration system.
My advice is apply for positions now, before registration. These agencies offering sponsorship, if they have employers that have advertised for some time for locals and could not find any, then whats stopping them tentively offering employment now? before your registration at least you would hope they would stand by their word and the nurse would be reassured that they have work once finished BP and if there is so much work around as they advertise!!!
You are normally offered a quote with a health insurance provider for the duration of your stay. I think the only time you won't be satisfied with an insurance provider is after you use it. You can always change insurance providers. My advice is to get as many quotes and go for what you like. You probably won't need extra cover yet just the basics. Be safe and try not to engage in physically taxing adventures during your stay.Hi, Guys. Kindly enlighten me re: health insurance while on student visa. International nurses who need to complete a CAP program in NZ are finding there are no places for them in the time they are given by the NZ nursing council, after assessment of their nursing education. They are given one year to find a place. This is due to the overwhelming amount of overseas applicants there.
New Zealand do not allow private education for this course to operate there, so have less openings.
It may well happen here as well.
It is already difficult for nurses here, that have not practised for 5 years, also must do this program and cannot afford nor find a place at these schools, especially if you they do not live in Victoria.
