New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Id like to ask regarding proof of funds.Specially to those who's done w/ their medicals or those who already have their visa. subclass 456 seems to be requiring "Evidence of personal funds". How long should the account be opened to be qualified for this? and how much should be in that acct?

Hi. I'm looking into accommodation options for La Trobe at Bendigo, though my slot is still for Jan.2013., any suggestions? Thanks.

hi guys,

i've been reading but i'm getting a bit confused. what visa should i apply for the bp?

people seem to take the business short stay visa (456) but it's good for 3 months only and without further stay.

the bp is good for 3 months; even with an early exit, i doubt there is much time to apply for another visa to make my stay legal. the 456 visa has "no further stay" condition.

"

if your visa is subject to this condition, you will not be able to apply for any other visa (except for a protection visa) while you remain in australia.'"

now i'm confused. can anybody shed light on this matter please? what do people do when their 3 months is almost up? or are there any other visa options? is a visitor visa possible?

thanks in advance!

Pm me, cris88...i live in bendigo...know some rooms for rent

if u study in a cricos school like deakin and la trobe, you qualify for 575 non award student visa....its moe expensive but does not have no further stay and you can change to a visitor visa after your 4 mos validity. the student visa gives u 1 month more after upur course duration so thats why its 4.me n my husband were on a 575 then extended as visitor then changed to 457 then permanent residency after 10 mos at work.
Unfortunately there are some who are not aware of the risks they are taking, putting the family home or farm for a chance at an Australian dream. Sorry, not familiar with the type of visa you can apply for. I know of someone who had to apply for another course and apply for another student visa while here in Australia.
So far all students that had their bridging in LTU got jobs---mostly QLD and NSW. Inknow of 2 or 3 who went back to the Philippines cz of personal issues but not b/cz they couldnt get a job. Some are lucky to get a job as soon as license is out some can take up to 3 mos before they find a job. The impt thing is not to stop applying.

Hello, everyone. I'm a Registered Nurse from the Philippines, but currently working in Dubai, United Arab Emirates as an RN in the Med/Surg Unit.

I intend to apply for Registration for Australia, and I'm not going to lie--the application form and requirements from AHPRA's website are pretty overwhelming. :p

I'm looking forward to meeting other RNs on this forum, especially those currently in the United Arab Emirates who plan on going to Australia. :)

There is a lot more schools than Latrobe in Bendigo. In the past year the government is now policing sponsorship visas and employers must have tried for a local nurse for their unfilled position.

There are more local nurses without work, there are massive amount of international nurses coming here looking for work, employers do not and cannot prove they need an international nurse for the job, unless specialised eg: theatre - much experience.

Keep applying by all means, but do not take out massive loans for this experience and have relatives property on the line, if you cannot pay it back.

The jobs are advertised but also state must have work rights.

Do not live in la la land, be a reasonable person when taking on this decision.

Nurses are not finding sponsorship after bridging programs not one or two like years ago, but only one or two are finding sponsorship.

Skilled immigration is another thing and if you do not have paid 3 years experience is difficult to get the points to qualify.

Remember if it sounds to good to be true....it is!

Hi Chabeli, do you know someone who applied for a 456 visa? how did they got their visas extented or some really had to come home while waiting for their 457? since the nurse is only allowed 3months to stay there?

Hello nurses,

my friend has a problem on the email she received "Evidence of personal funds" as i have shared above. The thing is she has closed her acct way before so my question is, it is fine that she opens a new acct now with the funds needed to show the embassy?

I can only speakFor LTU bendigo cz we live in Bendigi n my husband is from iron batch 1... U cannot go on 456 if u are enrolle in a uni. They all got student visas and not business short stay cz LTU is a cricos school. My cousin who was from January 2012 intake got a job already without having to extend her visa.

There was a guy who posted in this thread a few days ago. CUIDADO was his username. His visa is expiring this June and could not secure sponsorships. He claims he has been looking for jobs everyday. Since you seem to know where jobs are, could you point him in the right direction?
