New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

To God be the glory! From when I got here in Oz, everything happened so fast. Everything went as planned. I didn't have the chance to go home for the holidays as I was granted a Single Entry 456 visa. here's my timeline:

Sept 7 : Arrived in Oz

Sept 8 - Dec 2: IRON through AAON

Dec 5: Applied for Tourist Visa (was granted 2 months stay)

Dec 22: AAON submitted our certificate of completion to AHPRA

Dec 28: Received my registration

Jan 10: Was interviewed by a large group of private hospitals

Jan 16: Was offered an employment

Jan 18: Lodged my 457 visa

Jan 27: 457 visa released

Feb 13: Commencement of employment as RN Div 1. :)

Thanks to everyone who contributed in this forum! And to everyone who is just starting their Aussie dream, keep your hopes high...do your best and God will do the rest. :)

Wow! I'm so happy everytime one forumer gets hired there! Congratulations!!!! :)

Anyway, before you lodge your application with AAON, did you already have a complete list of vaccinations?

Yeah I did, plus they gave me a form with the list of vaccines that needs to be signed and completed by a GP. :)

Is it ok for the GP to sign the kind of vaccine in which he didn't administer and just place on the comments that I got the vaccine from another clinic?

hi everyone.

Need some help here.I google LTU for the BP course and it showed the Div 2 conversion program. Whats the course name for BP DIV 1?

does anyone know the next available intake for LTU and their incoming ones?

thanks

LTU's next intake will be this May, unfortunately, slots are already full. That makes the next available intake on Jan 2013. :(

Lots of them.

We were also required to do a Literature Review just like the ones we did in our nursing research.

wow. this is good to know. I already dumped my knowledge on Nsg research way after passing that subject. haha.

hi everyone!im a bit in a state of confusion here..I would like to ask help from our successful colleagues who are now commencing the bridging course in australia.my husband and i are both nurses employed in saudi arabia and we would like to go to australia for a greener pasture.both of us have 4 years experience in our fields,er and icu respectively.our parents already asked IDP but what they told us is to apply online or apply even if we are here in saudi, and they did not expanded the process of applying for eligibility.we dont know where to start.please help us understand every process..we are planning that i would do the course first since it would break our bank accounts for the costs of the course and everything..IDP said he could be my dependant and we can both work part time.thats our plan, when im more stable and in God's mercy that i passed,i will be the one to provide for his course.do you think which state answers fast on eligibility applications?

thank you in advance.

That's what I did, I presented my baby book to the GP and all the test results, such as HepB titers, etc...plus I made her do the mantoux test and other boosters that I needed to have. :)

To isingrn, Congratulations! You're so blessed. So happy for you.

Thank you! And good luck in your future endeavors. :)

Applications to Australia need a pass in IELTS or OET at certain prescribed level, no point in application as they will not assess it without application being completed.

There are hundreds of applications delivered daily around AHPRA offices in Australia, gain your IELTS or OET before thinking of anything else as english is the language that is used in health care....good effective communication skills.

You can start your application as soon as you have your IELTS result. Required rating is a minimum of 7 in all categories. Then you can prepare all the needed documents by back reading this thread or check the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency - Home If you'll have further questions, all the members here are willing to assist and answer them for you.

Good luck!
