Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
With the USA, UK jobs gone, Canada, Australia, NZ will eventually be filled up, so PH nurses better hurry before all the doors close. With almost a million PH nurses all wanting to go abroad, there simply are not enough jobs to go around.
As per my experience, we have the Indians as our number 1 competition for RN jobs in Australia. Fortunately, with the IELTS now strictly required as a prerequisite for registration, we Filipinos are better off than other nationalities with our better command of the language.
My question is about the medical examination for the visa. Are they strict in terms of weight issues?also is the medical exam similar for US,Saudi visa requirements wherein you need to remove your clothings except for the undies?
As for ACFE?where can i inquire when will they be receiving application for the May intake? and how long does it take for you to received the eligibility letter via snail mail?
The College of Nursinghello, how did you apply for CON? can i ask for their email or the link to their website? puhlease...Thanks..:)

most BP schools, as far as i have checked that is, requires an eligibility letter from AHPRA... UniSA grants a conditional offer and sets a deadline for lacking requirements.. i guess its best to just look for schools for the mean time and prepare for their requirements. especially the immunization req. you can try submitting applications at schools that do not require an application fee. application fees are non refundable and it would be such a waste if your application will be denied cause of the lacking ahpra letter...

I do not think nurses from India are the Filipino's number one competition for jobs in amount of applications. I would hope Australians/PR's are international non resident nurses, number one competitor for RN positions.
Australia is having record number of applications from the UK and America, New Zealand as well and most of those have quite a good command of the language as well.
Jobs drying up, has now happened in Victoria and no doubt overseas nurses willing to travel will take up the vacancies available through sponsorship in other states, nsw and queensland, no doubt, jobs will dry up there and it will be soon.
Not only that these schools making mega bucks doing the BP conversion are already overflowing with applicants and will not be able to give the course in recommended time of 12 months, as what has happened in New Zealand.
and please no put downs, it is happening. Sponsorship positions will stop.
This is something to consider if you are thinking of being available in 1-2 years.
There is no way with our small population in Australia keep employing overseas nurses without consequences of job availability evaporating..no matter what you hear from these people that come and give talks from the nursing education groups.....they want the money, governments and unions talk of nursing shortages, because it has been around since the early 90's it is just part of the blurb, it will soon be a non event and bite them on the rear end.
Its time to take some sort of action in your own country to stop this massive, massive, overproduction of nurses and poor pay and or volunteering for nursing survival there.

Anyone who went to La Trobe University for their BP? Could you share your stories about studying BP at LTU? Another thing, could you list some accommodation in Bendigo?
Thanks in advance!
