New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

really? you submitted your application to AHPRA-ACT? i thought it's faster there now as compared to AHPRA-WA? have you tried calling them? usually it would only take days or weeks to receive the LOE after they've told you that your documents are complete already.

yeah. I submitted mine end of July, they received in August 2. Then November 22, after a series of emails (because they cannot find my file/documents), they said that it's complete and will be assessed as soon as possible. I thought it will only be a month (the most) before they send me the eligibility and so I waited. Then end of December, still no outcome, so I emailed them. A staff told me that my papers are complete and now under the Director of Registrations for approval consideration. BUT, the director is on leave. So, right now, I'm still waiting. The last email I received from the staff was almost 2 weeks ago and she said that the director will be back January 16 (last week), but up to now I haven't heard from them.

I mean, I'm not frustrated or anything. I'm just anxious. And I don't blame them for that long wait. I just want this to end.

submit it to states with less applicants (you can probably gauge it from the posts here).

WA is still faster than some, I guess.

cigarettes here cost $15. LOL...

we are allowed to bring 10 packs at the most so to those of you who are smokers, be sure

to buy some before flying to aus! haha...

Who's going to CON?

From there application form there's a space to fill in regarding your credit card details.

Do we need to fill that up already?

What's this for? The tuition fee or application fee?

that is because our health values are one of preventative practise and consequences of smoking causes one most of the admissions to hospitals.

in response to this the federal government taxes cigarettes high to prevent people and to promote people to quit. there are many programs available to the public to quit. this has seen many people as non smokers, especially amongst health professionals as they have the education to know, smoking puts an individual at high risk of health complications, smoking rates for the australian community has been reduced dramatically over the years.

you will find in victoria, smoking is not allowed in shops, discos, hotels, clubs and shopping centres, though they do have areas outside to smoke, but people get very annoyed by smoke blown over them.

hospitals have banned smoking even from hospital grounds in victoria.

i believe these bans have been implemented australia wide. smoking is banned from airport buildings and all federal buildings.

it maybe the time to think of quitting if wanting to be a health professional in australia, who is to promote healthy living as well as looking after the secondary health needs of australians.

not really. i smoked outside the sydney domestic airport and it was ok with the airport security and staff.

for as long as you are 4 meters away from the entrance/exit doors, then you will be fine.

but yeah, to those of you who want to quit smoking then this is the right time. just think about spending $15 per pack!

sorry for my post. didnt mean to encourage smoking at all.

one more thing, be sure not to bring plants and dried goods (or any food at all). coz if you do, you might be questioned by the border security. or worst, be penalized!
