Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Yes, you need to fill up everything to be eligible for selection. I did submit my application to CON but didn't push through it since they didn't answer my query about the refund of tuition fee if I wasn't selected for their intake.
Thanks again for this. I think I will also send my application thru post but won't fill in the CC details. Gr. This is all so confusing.
Since I already have my first shot when I was a baby my pedia told me that I only need the booster does. I just hope that that would be enough.Im not sure about the serology test for MMR.
hello =)
i'm getting confused with the shots since almost all of us had the MMR, Varicella shots back when we were babies. Given this, do we need to take 2 more shots for the MMR then 1 shot for the Varicella? Or since we had the initial shots before, will 1 shot per each immunisation (MMR, Varicella) be ok?
how much are the vaccines now? the one near our house costs about 1k for 1 shot of MMR. How about for the TST? where can we have that one?=)
thanks in advance =)

Hi. I hope I could answer your question. I already have my varicella (2 shots) last 2008. My pedia told me that I won't be needing one anymore. I think 1 shot of MMR will do since we already have it when we were babies.
The MMR here costs 1,5k. Too expensive, but we don't have a choice. Im going to get it this week so that we I still have time for the TST since we need to have it a month apart to have an accurate reading (according to forumers here). Private clinics offer it. I hope that would be valid.

thanks for the rep =)
oh, but for the past MMR that we had when we were babies, do we need to get a hold of a certificate for that? coz i can't trace my pedia anymore hehehe so it'll be hard for me to secure one. sigh, then perhaps i need to get 2 doses for MMR then =(
as per varicella, i already have a serology test for this. will this do? i dont want to spend on vaccines when in fact my titer says it all already =(
tips tips pls =)
thanks again =)
yup you can provide serology for both MMR and Varicella. What I did is I avail the MMRV (MMR+varicella) vaccine because it's more economical than having both separately. It cost me 2k for 1 shot.thanks for the rep =)oh, but for the past MMR that we had when we were babies, do we need to get a hold of a certificate for that? coz i can't trace my pedia anymore hehehe so it'll be hard for me to secure one. sigh, then perhaps i need to get 2 doses for MMR then =( as per varicella, i already have a serology test for this. will this do? i dont want to spend on vaccines when in fact my titer says it all already =(tips tips pls =)thanks again =)
Yes you can leave the CC details blank. That's what I did also. Then they will send you a letter by post mail, it contains the requirements you missed to submit and the vaccine infos. You can pay them through bank draft. Thanks again for this. I think I will also send my application thru post but won't fill in the CC details. Gr. This is all so confusing.
you can have the tst from your pedia or doctor who gave you the vaccine. Actually to save more time you can have the tst first then on the following day it is already safe to have the MMR. In case you had the MMR first you need to wait 6 weeks before you can have the tst, on the next day you can have your 2nd dose of MMR.Hi. I hope I could answer your question. I can't remember the correct number, but the vaccine that was given during infancy only lasts up to 15 or 20 years. Both MMR and varicella has serology and it is a valid document to present, however it is very expensive than having the vaccine itself.with how many months interval? i could't remember if i already had the 2nd shot! is the shot given after birth not considered as the first shot? and if im not mistaken, there's a blood test to determine if a person still needs to have an MMR shot right?

hi leey86! what if I already had chickenpox, is it safe to have a shot of the varicella vaccine?

I had chickenpox when I was a kid also, but I can't find my pediatrician that's why I opted to get the vaccine. If you can ask a medical certificate stating you had chickenpox you may do so. :)
