New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

YUP . .Go to your family doctor and request for a test . . where did you have your hep b immunization? .. you can just ask for certification that you have received hep b vaccine ... and it depends in the result of your test . . did u have your hep b booster dose already? :nurse:

Its been a while since i had my Hep b shots and i dont have the booster yet.So i should just get the booster shot and also have a heb b titer test?

hi leey86! I'm keeping fingers crossed too that I'll receive my letter soon! Do you have any tips or suggestion that I should do while waiting for my eligibility because I'm planning to enrol in CON too. What are the vaccines should I have? thanks

Soon you will have your LOE too pinkmarj ;) you can start having the TST and the vaccines; hepB, Tdap, MMR, Varicella. So when you receive your LOE you are halfway complete with your vaccinations. :) What month is your target for the BP? I hope to be included in their April slot.

hi leey86! i just have a question about the vaccines. for the Tdap and varicella, is there a certain time interval for these 2 vaccines? I already completed the hepB and MMR i don't have Tdap and varicella vaccines yet although i already had chickenpox before? what should i do about those 2 vaccines? thanks in advance! :))

did u have 3 consecutive shots for hep b vaccine? .. the booster dose is usually given a year after the 3 shots . . then the doctor would usually request for hep b titer test . . .

i'll be flying to australia today.

see you guys at CON

wow! :) Congrats raja!

All vaccines can be given in one day, but the interval of the second dose should be one month from your first dose. If you had chickenpox before you can go to your pedia or attending physician to ask for a certificate or you can have the serology test. As for me I availed the vaccine because my doctor offered me a MMRV vaccine (MMR+varicella). Did you have your TST already? Because this should be done first before the MMR to avoid false reading. If you had MMR first you must wait 6weeks to have your TST. :)

i already had mmr like 3 yrs ago since im currently employed and it was a requirement. would that be a problem if my vaccine was given to me 3 yrs ago?

I don't know bout that aila.. Maybe you can still use your certificate for mmr even if it's 3years ago. But to be on the safe side i think its better to ask your doctor, he/she might give you a booster shot if there's any.

Hi. You need to have 2 shots of MMR :)

Who's going to CON?

From there application form there's a space to fill in regarding your credit card details.

Do we need to fill that up already?

with how many months interval? i could't remember if i already had the 2nd shot! is the shot given after birth not considered as the first shot? and if im not mistaken, there's a blood test to determine if a person still needs to have an MMR shot right?

Yes, you need to fill up everything to be eligible for selection. I did submit my application to CON but didn't push through it since they didn't answer my query about the refund of tuition fee if I wasn't selected for their intake.
