Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

what's the OEC for? thnx!
OEC - Overseas Employment Certificate
All OFW's are required to get it from POEA whether you were directly hired by a foreign employer or you went through a local recruitment agency.
Since I will be using my 457 visa in leaving the Philippines for Australia, I am required to show the OEC together with my visa upon exit at NAIA.
I have to attend the PDOS seminar next Tuesday at the OWWA and will be issued the certificate of attendance at the end of the day.
I will submit the certificate together with a copy of my contract, passport, visa to the POEA together with a payment of P7,500.00 in order to get the OEC.
You can google the details of the OEC as well as its benefits for us OFW's.
Congratulations, Joiemike, on your new job!
I'm currently undergoing the BP course here in La Trobe University together with jakey, invanz, razektine, princessblush along with 15 other filipinos and 20 indians. We will be starting our clinicals next week so I find your post regarding how to "behave" most helpful, especially #4 as my classmates and I tend to blab away in our own dialects. Thank you very much!
Cheers!
hi guys,
I've been reading this forum a lot n thanx to ur valuable guidance that I have almost completed my application except a small confusion regarding "continuing professional development" which is something i havent been able to understand how to mention in my CV. Actually I havent been able to work as a nurse since last two years, due to abroad stay, nor have I participated in any nursing related studies/training, so what am I supposed to mention for reflecting my "continuing professional development" in my CV and how. This confusion is hindering my application submission so please help..

I think I listed all the training I did (CPR, PALS, TNCC, etc) and some online CE units that I took.
Hi,everyone. I have been a lurker since 2010 and not a member until recently. I have a question for everyone re: health insurance for international students. Could you recommend which is practical with a reasonable insurance fee for a family. I tried to backread but I was not able to locate info about OSHC here. Thanks in advance.
