New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Sorry to hear that glitzdelight:( Better to retake the IELTS here though so as you'd get to focus on the BP and job hunting while in Oz. You can always take the exam in Manila or Cebu - wherever convenient for you:)

Hi nursezest. I think I will take in in CDO instead. Most BP schools have their BP on May or June, so getting it on February is a must to also give myself time in applying for the BP and whichever visa the school requires. Thank you so much! :)

Its there on the link I provided as a pdf file.

Yup, MMR comes in one shot. As for Tetorifice, it is included in the Dtap as it pertains to Diphtheria tetorifice and acellular pertussis. But technically, it really depends on the what the school requires. However, the most common required vaccines as what I know includes MMR, Dtap and Hep B.

thanks for the heads-up =) i'll have my MMR shot the soonest and have the 2nd after a month then. oh, then will have the dtap sometime in between those 2 shots. ang gastos! =p how did you go about your Mantoux though?

hello there, can you pm me about their loan details? 'coz i was planning to avail their services since you guyz know that I was one of the victims of Typhoon Sendong and I'm trying to find ways that could support me financially in my application. Thank you and God bless :)

Sure. Pm sent.. :)

hi, good evening. newbie here. i'm interested in the bridging course as well. but i know little. i've read the first 15 pages of this thread but it was too late when i realize that it was way back 2010. so i just jump right to the end. anyhoo, i just started my plans with the student visa thing. i'm still in the process of completing the ahpra requirements to be deemed eligible. here are a few enquiries i have. hope you can help me.1. documents i need from prc are as follows: cert of good standing, cert of reg status, board rating and cert of passing. did i miss anything? i think you listed it all. just remember that thr certificate of good standing should be sent by prc itself to ahpra.

wheredid you authenticate your docs? with prc? or notary public? or is that the same? i let the notary public certified mine, though it is also an authenticated copy from prc.

2. how long does ahpra usually process this kind of application?

depends. some waited for 3 months, some as long as 6 months.

3. i graduated last 2007. i have no trainings or any voluntary work in any hospital. except for one training with asia renal care which was conducted last 2009 and that was only for 250 hours i think. is thatok with ahpra? do i still have a chance to be approved with zero experience?4. with that being said, what do i put with my cv? even though i don't have nursing exp, i did work for other companies that has nothing to do with nsg. do i put that in my cv? is that ok?

ceridwyn answered this already :)

5. what agency can you recommend?

i don't recommend an agency since you can do this all by yourself. if you have questions the forumers here are pretty helpful. :)

- i'm really sorry for all the questions. i will very much appreciate your help. thanks so much.

there you go :)

Im also curious about this one too :)

You are not a new graduate and you have not completed had any nursing experience in the past 4-5 years except for a short course in renal 3 years ago.Nurses in Australia are not allowed to re register after 5 years of no experience.Ongoing professional development to keep abreast is very important.Who knows what you may be assessed you may be required to do more than just a short bridging course which would be on keeping of what's required of Australian nurses, but there seems to be no consistency with AHPRA with the rules and assessing international nurses, you may just get through, it's difficult to say, you will have to apply and be prepared.Have you kept uP to date... Research, attended professional development updates over the years, read nursing update journals? If you have this could be put in you cv as evidence you are keeping uptodate and doing ongoing professional development.
Thanks very much ceridwyn. Well i could take the exam to become a certified renal nurse. And also i've worked as a companynurse for a year. Isthat ok?
There you go :)
Thanks very much glitzdelight. :) the experience thing is my main problem. Have you submitted your registration? Can i see your CV format?Do you have any suggestions on how i can keep up with the exp thing. Also, for the proof of identitything, the only doc needed is notarized copy of passport and cert of regstatus, is that right?BTW, I checked their rules on certification, it says there that the documents should be certified by a notary public. My documents are currentlyin the process of authentication with PRC right now. Do i need to submit the docs again to a notary public? Lastly, school docs needed are TOR, and diploma? Thank you, thank you very much!

In the AGOS-40 form, in question no. 18. Based on my experience, what choice do I have to pick? :(

I found my CV format here. Try searching it. It's a pdf file (i think). I'll try finding that one for you.

Yes, your passport will do.

You need to have it certified by a notary public with this statement on it "I have sighted the original document and certify this to be a true copy of the original".

Additional school documents besides the one you have mentioned are RLE grades and Course Syllabus. Other forumers here let the school send it directly to AHPRA, others (like me) send it myself. :)

With all due respects to the health facility and your course education, you will not qualify as a renal nurse specialist with a 250 hr course.

To be specialist nurses in Australia you must have much experience in the specialty and have done/doing/completing a university degree in that specialty, (Graduate certificate, Graduate Diploma or a Masters) we do not have exams in nursing at all for anything unless it is required to pass a subject in a university course.

So no, you cannot be a renal nurse specialist, you may be extremely lucky and obtain a position as a Registered Nurse in a renal unit, but this still does not answer your lack of experience as a general nurse which you must have before you specialise. Jobs in this area when advertise always ask for experience, do not know if your 250 really qualifies for experience.

In your past posts you claim to have worked as 'company nurse' does this not involve nursing, you claimed to have 'zero' experience as a nurse!!!
