New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

With all due respects to the health facility and your course education, you will not qualify as a renal nurse specialist with a 250 hr course. To be specialist nurses in Australia you must have much experience in the specialty and have done/doing/completing a university degree in that specialty, (Graduate certificate, Graduate Diploma or a Masters) we do not have exams in nursing at all for anything unless it is required to pass a subject in a university course. So no, you cannot be a renal nurse specialist, you may be extremely lucky and obtain a position as a Registered Nurse in a renal unit, but this still does not answer your lack of experience as a general nurse which you must have before you specialise. Jobs in this area when advertise always ask for experience, do not know if your 250 really qualifies for experience. In your past posts you claim to have worked as 'company nurse' does this not involve nursing, you claimed to have 'zero' experience as a nurse!!!
Ok. Because when I trained for hemodialysis, they told me I can take the exam, and If I pass I can become a certified renal nurse. I may have misunderstood. Yes. Well, my friends told me that working as a company nurse doesn't really count. They said nursing experience requires hospital work. Well, if its ok then Big yey for me. S I can put that in my CV. YEY. Thank you.

BTW glitzdelight, what step are you currently in? Did you already receive your eligibility with AHPRA?

Hi chilbrat,

will I not get in trouble in the airport immigration if I only have one-way ticket?

Good for you for being able to get a January slot. I will be taking my Bridging Course at ACFE by March.

Good luck to you!

Hi dimplednurse :)

When i was still waiting for my visa, i just purchased a one way ticket. The time my visa was released, i was granted by a multiple entry, without "no further stay". So i thought my one way ticket is enough for me to travel here in Australia. However, the time i checked in my luggage at the airport (Cathay Pacific airline), the airline company asked for my return ticket and i explained it to them that i am not planning to come home since i will apply a bridging visa after my BP. Yet they hold my ticket and advised me to buy one since the australian immigration will surely look for it. So what i did i bought it immidiately becuase i was a bit scared what they've told me. In my surprise, the Australian immigration never ever mention about my return ticket. They even not asked me when i am returning home or if i have plans in going back. Maybe the airline told me to buy a return ticket to stay safe just to prevent any delay and problem during my travel. So, i think it really depends on the officer in the immigration, if they will ask for it nor not.

Hope this will help..

God bless you

Whatsthe difference between an Enrolled Nurse and a RegisteredNurse.

Hi fellow nurses!

Can anyone give me a link to any sample certificate of employment. I've heard that AHPRA is very specific. Thank you very much!

Hi ladydee-rn,

Are you also under that agency? If yes, can you give me any advice on how you process yours. Well anyway, thank you in advance and congratulations for your eligibility (just think positive!):w00t:

Thanks Makikay_rx..

Anybody who can please add some info regarding this? I am really having second thoughts.:) Is it necessary to book for a return ticket? I don't want to book for a return ticket that I might not be able to use. :(

im having my IELTS review here in Davao, i'd like to know which type did you choose: the General Training or the Academic type of IELTS?

Anyway, im planning to start my application on March 2012. If my calculation is correct, I'll be having my bp on January or February 2013. Is that correct?

Hello fellow nurses,

I'd like to inquire about the time frame Ahpra should send an email saying they have received your application.A notice of receipt. I applied w/ my 3 friends, they already received their email but i havent received mine. What should i do?

IELTS Academic.

If you submit your application around March of this year, there's a high possibility that you'll receive your eligibility before the year ends, and so there's a high chance that you might have your BP by January or February 2013.

you can email them, or call them.

but if your friends just received theirs, you might want to wait for few days to a week before inquiring.

Is there anyone here who's taking the BP at Deakin? Has anyone here tried to take the BP there? Thank you! :)
