New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Thank you sandy05! :) I am not sure until when its going to be valid, the offer letter I received from them doesn't state that info. Anyway, I received my offer letter on September 24, 2010. I sent my application last August 5, 2010 and they called me for the interview on September 17, 2010. :)

I'm sorry, I meant the letter from AHPRA. It says in the form of vchn that the letter from NVB is valid for 2 years. Does the letter from AHPRA say anything about validity? Thanks a lot! :)

congrats and good luck @isobelle.. nice feeling huh?! ...solved the bank payment problem and moving the june slot to feb.. :-)

@sandy05..... as far as i remember, for those who applied after july 01 under AHPRA, eh nobody yet has been approved, which means we do not have actual record or basis of how long the processing will take place.. everything now is wait and see.. nobody can answer yet the big question, until somebody here gets approved..

@as unadunad said, the waiting mode begins... best of luck to your application unadunad and sandy..

peace..

yeah you're right...i hope someone gets approved soon so that we'll know...the same friend i was talking about recently received a letter from AHPRA VIC asking for a new Cert of Employment...at least we know that his application is already being assessed.

by the way, thanks for your first few posts on this thread, i printed it and had my parents read it 'coz they're having a hard time understanding the whole application process. this is very helpful for the new applicants, i remember when my friends and i first applied for registration we had to figure out ourselves what to do, who to contact, where to go, etc...

kudos! :yeah:

I have an eligibility from NMBWA. I don't think AHPRA has issued eligibility letters just yet.

as isobelle replied, nobody knows yet.. but AHPRA is reasonable and fair about that, and i would really bet that the validity (once they issued it) would be at least 2 years or at most 3 years.. i greatly doubt it would just only be 1 year..

glad to have at least rendered some help.. good luck..

Hello, I was wondering how many Filipino nurses who took the bridging program in different colleges/universities in Australia are now hired as a staff nurse? From the time of completion of the bridging program (which is 12-13 weeks if I'm not mistaken), how much time would you have to wait before a hospital hire you and sponsor you a 457 visa?

I am currently in the process of procuring the documents needed in the application of being an RN in Australia. I would gladly appreciate any feedback regarding this matter. Thank you very much!

In the past few years our universities(Australia) were given extra money to train as many student nurses as they could ......this I know first hand experience, because placements are difficult students are being sent anywhere 5-6 hours away just to get clinicals in, it is reallys tuff for placement officers because of so many students....hence

from this year on....there will be many new Australian graduates...more than in the past, at the end of this year.

So, there will be alot more Australian new graduates this year.

Nobody seems to post here when they do get employed and they really are the ones to answer your question, though I do not think hospitals are freely giving out sponsorship today with the cutbacks to nurses with no experience, when there are many Australian graduates to pick from now.l

If this post is by the brain person I am sorry I answered it!

hi everyone!:) just today i received a mail from AHPRA and it is the receipt for my application... i sent my documents last august 2010 ( they received it around last week of august).

i emailed them on the 2nd week of september asking about my application, they replied on the 18th telling me that they already received my papers, however they are not sure when it will be assessed. so, when i received the mail today it means they are assessing my papers as of oct15, 2010( the receipt date),though i just received the mail today..heheh :) :clown:

here's the breakdown of payment on the receipt:

overseas assessment charge AUD 220

application fee only AUD 115

registration fee only AUD 78

TOTAL AUD 413

i just hope the assessment will have positive feedbacks...

hoping...waiting..anticipating...:nurse:

500 University nursing graduates left without a career path

I hope this is not the case in other states. In my opinion, getting sponsorship now is much harder compared during the past years. There were few old forumers here who shared their experiences and were actually sponsored after they finished their BP.

Well, let's just be optimistic, there is no instant success so we must work hard and persevere more to be a AUS RN. And BTW many shared in this forum before that making good on your BP increase your chances of getting sponsorship, so let's give it all when it is our turn and lastly not to be picky on choosing work hehe. :) :twocents:

how alarming, sad and disappointing. maybe i'll do my assignment and research the annual ratio of nursing graduates:available positions. no one (pinoy BP grads) posted their employment stories here. do you think this is their story? huhu nursing life is a nurse-eat-nurse world nowadays! :crying2:

Yes its been long that no one shared their life after BP, I guess they are very busy with their nursing jobs. Hehe.

yes i hope the reason why they don't share their success stories is because their busy with their nursing jobs and not picking apples in australian farms (i'm getting hooked on Border Security: Australia's Front Line). apple and orange, anyone?

Hi Guys, its been a while...my last post was still in the old thread way back April 2010 hehe... Well, i just wanted to share what has been going on with me since then..

So, I submitted my application to NMB-NSW that time, got caught with the transition, waited for several months after which last September I made calls to AHPRA and emailed them at the same time requesting for an update of my application. And just today I got an email from my Case Officer asking me to submit 2 requirements (phew! after 6 months waiting!). I was to submit the new AGOS-04 form and the CV then the email stated that after submission they will review further my application. The case officer also mentioned that since I have already paid the old fee to NMB-NSW last time then there are no additional fees for me to pay already. So here I am again, trying to get ideas from this thread on how to fill up my CV ^_^... oh well, what else to do but smile and just go with the tide :)

Yesterday however, a University in WA emailed me that my application to their 1-Year Nursing Conversion has been approved and I can join the 2011 intake. Actually, because I read some folks here before mention that Uni so I just applied, not really taking it seriously, but I'm quite glad about it that its another pathway for me other than waiting for my eligibility and I'm seriously giving it a thought now, nevertheless I will still continue to submit those 2 documents AHPRA is asking me because just the same after 1 year I would still need the eligibility for registration.

For the past 6 months of waiting I just kept myself busy training/doing volunteer work in the hospital of which I am glad I did because it really helped me have more confidence in my skills.

Thats all! LoL goodluck to all those still waiting for news from AHPRA!
