Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
I would like to know what is the process if one had already obtained a permanent resident visa and yet and overseas educated nurse? I recently passed the July 2010 PNLE. I currently hold a permanent resident visa. What step am I going to take for registration as a nurse in australia? Is it the same with others above my post?

you should have been informed by the nursing board where you have submitted your application if you were already assessed or at least asked you to re-apply to AHPRA if they were not able to assessed it. I wonder what took it so long for you not to receive any news. have you tried following it up for updates, jakey? :)
as far as I know, nobody in this forum has received an approval from AHPRA yet.

well my sister had applied before for a skilled independent visa subclass 136. she included her family and I in the visa with her as the main applicant. after 4 years of processing all the needed documents, we were granted visa last year. and at the same year we all went to melbourne for our initial entry. luckily, im already graduating at that time. and when board exam of july 2010 came, I also passed it. So I am asking what will be the steps I'll take if Im already a PR in australia? Is it the same as with the others above my post?

i hope my sister did that too lol! so you're already in australia? i think if you have the complete requirements (see AGOS-04 checklist) then you can process it anywhere in the world

read and got your question/concern........
answer:
(1) the mere fact that you graduated here in the phils. then you are classified as an "overseas nurse", thus you are the same as anybody here in this thread.. you will go through the same process just like every Filipino nurse applicants here..
(2) for your own convenience (before going to Oz), prepare and complete your application and documents.. help yourself by reading page 01 of this thread which was typed especially for you, a newbie applicant..
(3) the big difference between you (a PR) and the rest of us here, is that you can avail of the government scholarship program for BP, which would be financially beneficial to you..
