New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

I just did my medicals yesterday (Friday) at Nationwide Health Systems. I arrived there at around 10am. I finished the X-ray, UA and PA at 12noon and went back by 1:30 for the lab test and I was done. I called their office 2 days ahead to ask about requirements and they confirmed my name in their list (since I applied online visa) and texted me the requirements. It was pretty fast. Just make sure to get there early so you can finished everything in the morning. By the way, I paid 1,300php. :D

Sorry it's 4,300php. My bad. Lol:D

hi everyone, >.

i'm planning to take my BP at deakin university. can anyone share something on its process, requirements and fees?

thank you >.

Hi, any one in here has already finished the BP? and being registered as Aus-RN? I really want to take the BP, but since then, I want to be assured that there will be employment after the program. because taking BP will be a big investment...as everybody expects, none of us would like to go home back in the Phils who finished the program but returned home unemployed. Employment in Australia as a registered nurse is far most concerned in here. :)

@tumblewedz,

take a lot of research dude. :)))

here's the link: Deakin University- http://www.deakin.edu.au/hmnbs/pdu/preregistration-course.php

read from page 1. or you may read this whole thread, in a month time lol. patience is a virtue. you'll learn a lot, especially good strategies :)

@kenoboi

thanks>.

Hello everyone! I just want to ask if bank certificates from a rural bank valid as a proof of funds for visa filing? I had a friend who said that she was denied because according to her agent the bank that she used was not like the other big banks in the market.. Is this true? Or her agent was just making excuses? Anyone?

i think we really have to go to aussie embassy or just send it by post: you can download the form from the website, check this out in diac: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/business/456/how-to-apply.htm#e

how to lodge

you can lodge the signed and completed visa application form and supporting documents by post or in person at the nearest departmental office outside australia.

see: immigration offices outside australia

maybe i should wait for my visa letter first before doing the medicals. im really confused if we really need to do appointment first for the medicals.

thanks... i just have to send mine by post.

hi everyone

just wanna ask if anyone has asked for assistance regarding BP in Oz with Australian Migration Specialists (AMS) Consultants Inc.? AMS Consultants is a migration agency in Makati City...I've done my own research regarding such agency and I'm just wondering if anyone can make a personal evaluation of their services...

thanks!

there is no application fee. tuition fee is around 10,000 to 11,000 for the whole course. final figure of tuition fees will be published on the website or on the offer letter.

you have to physically send the application and original certified copies of your documents to their office address for processing. you can't apply through email.

i hope this helps...

Hello everyone! Been reading this thread since last year. I applaud everyone who has been so kind to share the infos they have relevant to the reason why we are all following this thread.

I would like to ask if my being an RN in the Philippines is credited in Australia for me to be able to take up a masters degree in nursing at any Universities in Australia? I really would love to specialize in Peri-operative Nursing but don't know the way yet. If not, does this mean, I need to go through the bridging program myself get registered and all then that's the time I could enroll for a postgraduate program?

Your replies regarding this matter would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

To hold a specialty masters in nursing from Australia, means you are somewhat of an experienced nurse in that specialty, you work in it and have studied the theory at masters level. Most of the time you must have an employing hospital that has links with the university.

Also usually most unversities worth their weight demand a year or two of nursing experience before you can study at Masters Level, it is what it says, to have a Masters means you are an experienced nurse working or have worked for quite a few years in this area or any other even a general Masters means that you are an experienced nurse, having much experience and then study at Masters level.

As for being a Registered as a Nurse in Australia to do the degree, if you are doing the degree in Australia you will need an employer in peri op to be doing the Masters/Diploma/Certificate so that you can gain the degree, you therefore will need to be a Registered Nurse to do so.

You can of course do a research Masters, which may mean you will not need to be a Registered Nurse in Australia, you would have to check with the university.

They all state if you need in the course requirements to be registered with AHPRA if need be.

If you did manage to do a Master of some sort in nursing, you will always be required to attend a bridging course of some kind.....a nurse who works ast my health facility, did a Masters in Nursing at a top university, as she had lots of experience in her own country......could not work in Australia till she did her bridging course.

Whew! First reply to my first post ever had to be from no other than Ceridwyn! Awesome! Thank you very much! Been reading your posts from the first thread upto here.

Yes I have had a three years experience from the Philippines but it's at a general ward. Been interested to work at the OR but just never had the chance so that brought me back to my first love, orthopedics. Also considering of specializing in Orthopedic Nursing because I am a registered physiotherapist back in the Philippines as well. Was thinking also that some of my units from that degree would be credited here. Worth to mention is my current license in Vermont USA as an RN too. It just saddens me a lot feeling like I have to go back to everything to actually practice my profession here. Been here only for two years plus now. Had a baby and took care of her solely until now that I'm ready to be back in the workforce, hopefully.

Do you possibly know of any other routes I could take that won't take me so long before I could practice my profession here? I hope it's not too much to ask. I just need inputs/suggestions before diving in. God bless and More power!
