well, that's a vivid picture i must say...thanks.but still, many consider going to the Land Down Under despite this. i'm sure international nurses are also aware of this to some extent as they have experienced the same situations in their home land...some may even be worse...to think, corruption cannot totally be displaced.it only happens in varied intensities.

i think it is definitely worth the risk if job placement has high certainty...and this is what i'm trying to find out although one might say "you'll never know til you get there" ...well, moving from a third world to a first world country sums up all the benefits i guess.not to mention excellent career advancement opportunities.

hi ceridwyn. thanks for the reply. what do you mean by "same as mine" ? r you saying you also had 1 year exp when you had your bridging? is 1 year exp in the Theatre enough to risk a fortune in a bridging course nowadays?

hi everyone! may I just ask how would you assess the chances of a Filipino nurse with 1 year exp in OR/Theatre with regards to job placement after bridging? how are employment opportunities for nurses with 1 year exp in the specialties? thanks.

i heard it is tough to get a job with little exp although not impossible...

This is indeed evident. Experience and specialization are must haves to gain competitive edge in the market. I just wonder if I have enough of both with 1 year exp. Thanks for the feedback steppybay :)

Thanks for the reply sezza. Australia it is! However, the cost-effectiveness of bridging programs gives me the preemptive scare. Would private clinics/day surgeries be willing to grant sponsorship to foreign nurses? And by how much would the pay vary compared with public hospitals? Thanks!

Despite such, I still have not made a firm decision about my own nursing career. Like @kitkat19, I would like to seek some opinion regarding my current professional status... I am an OR staff nurse since January 2012. So upon successful application to AHPRA (if finally decided to do so after getting ielts 7 considering an allowance of 3-6 mos) I would have accumulated 1 year plus exp in OR. Would my qualifications be attractive enough for the Australian health care market after AHPRA registration? TIA for the replies!:)
