New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

peace guys.. just be careful and diplomatic when saying something about Oz or Phils (whether it is true or not).. good luck, good nyt..

hi hay,

put it this way, in the context that AHPRA is still in the transition mode... therefore there are still policies that they are refining and creating, which we had been discussing here when we say that "we have to wait and see..for any precedent case... etc. etc."..

in other words, the nursing board is currently studying what "standards" or policies that they will set in order to have a clear, uniform and consistent basis of assessing Philippine nursing applicants.. since the board has not yet finished their review, hence, the Phil. applications are put on hold as they are "awaiting the qualification...blah blah blah.."..

so, just wait, besides the situation applies to all Phil. applicants, not just you..

good luck just the same.. pray it helps..

i've read somewhere that the transition phase ended around september 17...

i try! (sometimes) wahahahaha!

Aargh! I still can't find a bank that can transfer Philippine Peso to ANZ! How will I pay VCHN?? Most banks that I have inquired into said that I need to open a dollar account with them in able for me to do the bank to bank transfer. Any suggestions, buddies?

That's too hassle! Can't you just buy ANZ dollars from the black market and then deposit it to VCHN's account?

anything else? this is actually quite entertaining to read! :jester:

I had a feeling you would get a this is too degrading message! but i can sense you are one tough cookie! :) i'm sure that would make you a good nurse! and I FEEL YOU!

thank you thank you thank you! it feels good and assuring that a fellow Filipino understands me and not pretentiously lectures me. most of the time, i get the latter from Filipinos who are just too patriotic or too embarrassed to even pay attention to all the unpleasant things in the country. fishbowl, thank you for empathizing with my dark sentiments! i just hope that more people will understand me whenever i say something plainly true or negatively true or subjectively true, before they react, they'd realize first where i'm coming from. fishbowl, i'm glad you see the the little glimmer of light in the very dark and pessimistic glioblastoma! what can i say, i'm cancerous after all! :clown:

im sorry kristeeta.. as i had posted, it was only now that i learn about it, i.e. skills assessment, SOS with job description.. i don't have a pending application with ahpra..

anyway to answer this matter of that portion "Clinical / Procedural Skills":

- BLS ACLS, you may include this and attach your Certificate.

- IV Therapry, same as above..

- Standard First Aid Training... same..

- Disaster Nursing Training... same..

- ET Insertion Training

- Renal Dialysis Training (like in Manila where some centers offer 1 month trainng).

- Chemotherapy Administration Training

- Manual Handling Training

can you think of other stuff?? the thing is, you must have the certificate which will be the proof of your formal training and competency of such "procedures"..

moreover, it would be better to also request for a certification from your hospital that you normally and regularly perform certain procedures, like suctioning, catheterization, etc.. meaning, make a list of such procedures and have the head nurse sign it.. as long as it is true, then nothing to be afraid of..

just remember, it is better to send "excess" documents that be lacking.. assuming they will disregard any one or two of the above, then so what, it is better than writing nothing at all, besides the truth is you know how to do a procedure then you can sleep at night..

good luck..

thanks a lot cioman94!

OK guys, enough is enough. Can we please try and keep things in perspective here and be nice to each other. Each country has their own views on how they are educated and each country will have their own ways on how they educate themselves, can we please try to respect everyone's posts and wishes and NO PERSONAL ATTACKS on other members. If you feel you have to debate someone please try to do it in a friendly manner if not at least keep it constructive and polite.
