Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

I paid my tuition fee following the advice of our fellow forum poster Jesse. She told me to open a bank account in PNB and then deposit AUD, but in my case, I deposited pesos because they told me they do not accept other currencies other than american dollar and philippine peso. 1,000AUD cost me 42,+++ and the transfer fee is $38.
Thanks Girlashh. I think this is what I'll do. :)
@gliodid AHPRA already charged you? did they already started assessing your application? what are their reasons for forwarding your application to NSW?hmm..how come?
they didn't give any reason why vic forwarded apps to nsw (maybe due to overflow ahihi!). my mom checked her credit card and she wasn't charged yet. they couldn't assess and charge me because they told me i still lack a certain document. hello? what are they talking about? don't tell me i need to pay another 1500pesos for the courier to send this certain document (that i know very much in my heart that i did submit it) to nsw. this is so degrading on my part, really! lmao!
@glio
you can ask them again to check your requirements, maybe didnt record it yet too like what happened to mine. They sent me a letter for lacking requirements like Ielts, PRC docs, etc..but i told them they were all sent 2months ago..they should have got everything by this time..so AHpra checked it again on their database,.viola!everything was there..now im waiting again for the final results..hopin for the best..

thanks for the suggestion. as usual i barraged them with e-mails again (someone will accuse me of being impatient again hehe) ahihi! *returns to being pessimistic*
Hello!!! I went to PRC Baguio Office this morning to request a copy of Certificate of good standing. The window staff who is in-charge of sending documents abroad told me that there were 20 -plus aspiring AUS-RN who requested Certificate of good standing to be sent to APHRA. Most of the applicants however choose either Sydney and Melbourne offices as the destination of their certificates. With that, I was told that I was the first who sent a certification of g.s to other states/territory ( NT APHRA).
Hence, I suggest to those who are still planning to send their application to send it in other aphra offices to avoid getting in queue and consequently, have to wait a longer time before one receives an assessment. Anyway, once we receive our eligibility letter, we can apply to any BP providers in any state.
This is only my humble suggestion. It is up to you guys where will you send your application. :):):):):redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe
Hi unadunad!I am one of the 20 applicants from Baguio, my mom requested for my cert of good standing last week.
I chose Sydney, I'll just keep on praying that they will assess my application as soon as possible.
Are you from Baguio?
I'm from neighboring town of La Trinidad to be exact:). Don't worry about my last post,it was just a suggestion..Hehe.As long as you complete all requirements and satisfy the board then you'll receive a positive assessment. Where are you at the moment?
Hello everyone!
I'm new here and I've been reading a lot of threads regarding APHRA... I have learned some things about it.
It is a bit disheartening but I'm gonna share it to you guys anyway for public information.
1. APHRA is receiveing a lot of overseas applications not only from the Phils but from UK, Scotland, France, USA, INdia ,and Canada as well.
2. Basing from their posts, they seem to be having the same problem as ours and that is the processing time. Some OS received emails that it would take 90 days for APHRA to finish whatever they need to do. And some did get their eligibility letter after 90 days.
3. It also seemed that AHPRA is prioritizing Australian applicants. of course, duh! Also, i've read that some people actually fly all the way to APHRA offices and demand how their registration is going because they don't reply to their emails and phone calls. This worked out for some as they were catered immediately by an administrator and got their nursing license.
4. Here is a letter from the APHRA Team.. ( I do not know if this is really someone from APHRA as I only got this from another thread) Here goes...
Hi
Glad your appreciate our entry to the blogosphere.
It's hard to respond to individual information requests through this blog. However, despite the apparent silence from our end, our registration teams are making inroads into applications and will get back to everyone who has sent in an application as soon as we can.
We recognise that it's a huge move to think about moving across the world and we are certainly not trying to make it more difficult. But the new national law, that underpins the national scheme that came into effect on 1 July, is built around public safety and there are a range of new processes in place as a result. These include criminal history checks, validation of qualifications and identification. At the same time as we are working through overseas applications, we are focused on processing applications for some of the 500,000 health practitioners whose registration in Australia is progressively due for renewal.
As we said last time, we do have a backlog of applications that were made and not processed before the start of the national scheme. We are working through these. Once we get on top of this, we think overseas applicants should expect a four to six week application turnaround. We understand that Australian nurses applying to work in the UK are looking at about a four month turnaround so we are not doing too badly compared to the Poms!. We're also looking at developing a system so people can track the progress of their application through our system - but that will take a bit of time to put in place.
In the meantime, it's worth checking your copy of your application and making sure that what you have sent to AHPRA is complete and meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. This is probably most important if you applied before 1 July.
Thanks for your patience,
The AHPRA Team.
I forgot to include one important thing.
I have read that they are starting with the main countries like USA and UK.
Anyhow, let's give them 3 months to process everything after submitting the requiremnts. If they go beyond that, then I think we have the right to complain about their inefficiency. I mean, it was quite fast for them to get money from your account after only the first month of lodging your application!
There is no way this is from AHPRA as its language is not that of AHPRA and also contains a racial slur towards people of the United Kingdom that was often used in everyday text and is now considered quite inappropriate only in jest amongst drinking people in a bar. This racial slur would never be used in everyday communication from an organisation especially a government department. Posting this could cause some discussion.
Also the content...no way would they (AHPRA) compare themselves to another countries administration time lines.
On saying that, overseas nurses have been quite spoilt in the past with the quick registration of our states nursing boards in the past compared to other countries. to now complain that this is now occuring when it is considered appropriate to wait 2-12 months for other countries is unfair and as our registration board is now registration board to several professions unlike many other international registration boards is totally unfair.
Australia is allowed to do what it thinks is best for Australians and if that is a National board o be formed YAHOOO no more changing boards and expense if we move interstate great, do not overload and if no response from emails so.....they obviously are not sitting around drinking coffee. As it is our taxpaying money paying if you want quicker turnaround by employing empteen staff, just to cater for overseas nurses.
And yes Australian applications are being processed first, funny thing about that....and as our university year is drawing to a close there are many, many graduate applications to this health professional board. so there could be an even a longer wait.
Being a Registered AU nurse as many of you put it is not a right, the boards first priority is to Australians and I suppose due to the stack of money they pay to keep our universites open those who study here, and them only, then consider who may be registered here.
We are not desperate for nurses with no experience, though those nurses and doctors with specialilities that are needed maybe this new systems only downfall to the Australian people.
Also Nurses that are not from countries that are mentioned will have to wait the longest as theeducation from some of your nursing schools are questionable especially if not yet passed your national exam, so this is now being considered schools are examined.
One saying, if you want to come here is this FAIR GO!
to the poster, you have my permission to take this post and stick it where they are all complaining on the other forum.
