Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

nz is a different country than australia so how fair is it to go there first and tie someone's time up reviewing your application when you have no intent on working in nz that could be spent on people who want to work in nz?
Just wanted to share:What a relief for me, whew! I have an eligibility letter from NMBWA dated August 3, 2010. When I asked the board back then, they couldn't give me a clear response as to if this letter will be honored by AHPRA when they join the national scheme. So after 2 months of constant inquiries, just today, I received an email from the registrations officer of AHPRA confirming that I can use the eligibility letter to apply for a course which can lead me to registration until August 3, 2013. I can finally pay for the non-refundable 1,000 AUD Enrollment Fee at VCHN without doubts! :) Yey!
Congrats.... mixed emotions? right?... either you felt very happy or very relieved...
...good news and good luck..
WA joined AHPRA, 18 October... another transition stage to tackle for those who have pending applications in WA..
just wanted to share this too, a friend of mine received her NMBWA eligiblity last May, but not until the last week of September that she knew she already had one since no letter or email was sent to her
i think you shared this few months ago.. hope everything is fine already... good luck..
I passed my documents personally to AHPRA Victoria this morning so I took the opportunity to talk to the person who received my application. She told me that from the applications they have, 80% are coming from nurses. There's a huge pile of applications in queue. According to her, what happens is that they schedule the assessment of documents based on the date they were submitted. And by the time they go further, they have to go back to some which then lengthens the process. When I asked how long it would take for me to get a response, she couldn't give me an answer because even she can't tell. She just advised me to call and follow up from time to time.I also opened up the theory you guys were talking about. She agreed that Victoria and NSW are the busiest of all the states. But she told me that if you have indicated in your application the state where you would want to work and submitted your docs in a different one, then they will pass your application to the state you plan to do your nursing. (I think this is the question to #6 in AGOS-04, for those of you who answered it).
So I guess we just have to be patient and more understanding because they too are having a hard time keeping up with the demands from all their applicants.
thanks for the ground information you shared... it gives us first-hand data..
indeed you're correct, if you intend to send application in Darwin, then you should write in AGOS4 such place to be consistent..
good luck to your application... the waiting game begins..
Greetings to all of you! I want to work in New Zealand. Is ITR (Income tax return) a mandatory requirement before applying for tourist and working visa at New Zealand immigration?![]()
Hope to hear from you all soon! Thanks! :)
Have you checked their website?
Tourist visa - the main issue as a whole is whether you will come back to your home country or not, and one of the effective ways to do it is to present ITR to prove you have a good income and have a job in your country and therefore will just be a "tourist" in NZ, and will go back home then..
Working Visa - it's a different story... not needed...
Nonetheless.... better checked their website in the internet.... sorry, we have low IQ here if NZ questions are raised.. Oz questions, we could help you a lot, our IQ is better.. peace..

if you have good credentials and complete documents, then you will be able to easily process and obtain nursing registration in nz..
otherwise, do not bother to apply there....
if people are so concern right now about the processing in ahpra, that concern/headache is 3x if you will apply in nz without good credential and complete documents..
example: if ahpra grants you registration, then expect to also receive your atp easily.. in nz, after getting your registration, you still have another "step" to undertake, you must send application for your atp.. see the difference? that's just one of the examples.. and they check your tor like as if they are using a microscope (hyperbole)... that;s how tedious they are, that is their right, we must not complain about it..
therefore, i still prefer ahpra, despite the long queue..
Hi Everyone! I read a lot this thread and I really find it helpful. I would like to ask about visa 456. Do you lodge your application first or have the medical check up? I seem couldn't contact Nationwide Health System here in Makati? Do you know any new numbers of them?
Anyone attending BP in January or February in ETEA?:)
Please help me. Thank you!
You can have the medical check-up before lodging your application. I was informed by the Nationwide Health Systems that they would forward the results 1 to 2 weeks after the check-up. You just need to bring your passport, 2 photocopies of your passport and 4 passport size pictures. They will charge you P4400. Hope that helps :)
