Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
Sorry cioman94 I beg to differ from your statement because I am a Filipino citizen that had a 457 visa like Ceridwen and paid the terminal fee and travel tax instead of getting the OEC. Getting the OEC affords you additional benefits so if you have the time to do it, it is encouraged to go through the process of getting your OEC. Last 2009, I believe you can get it done at the airport, you just have to queue, so get there early.I used to get my OECs faithfully every time I go on holiday in Manila. You can get your OEC from the embassy before you travel to the Philippines (if you are fortunate enough to live close to one). One day we forgot to get our OEC while abroad. Went to UN ave office to get our OEC....long queue...very long queue. Spent the whole day on my holiday to queue! Not ever doing that again. Next time we went to the airport and asked how to go about it. Told to pay the travel tax and then the terminal fee and that's it!
This is off-topic, sorry guys..just sharing. Those with 457 or work visa probably open a new thread. This might get confusing for this thread.
i was able to exit phil without oec . phil immigration officers can't prove that 457 is a work visa since 457 visa means business long stay and 457 visa label on passport says temporary resident...:)
thank for the help guys.. just another confusion.. im about to send my docs.. now in what address will i send it?and how will they know that my docs from prc and Idp is with my docs i personally sent?do they give a ref #? i dont even know where to request ielts result..help.. will i just go bug niner for it??

Exiting the Philippines on a work visa is an option but it is encouraged as what cioman and myself advocate is to get an OEC especially if it's your first time to leave the country. It gives you that extra insurance when you leave.
Also this forum is for students and such. You are a 457 visa holder and a new one too? Would you like to share how you come about with your work visa? That would be useful for our fellow nurses who will be aspiring for a work visa after their BPs.
for those who sent their application in WA...can i ask what address did you use in mailing your papers? thanks in advance :)
You can use either one. If you use a courier that requires a signature send it to the office address and not the PO Box. Someone here posted awhile back that australia post knows where to send it to just in case you make a mistake. Just to be on the safe side, remember that PO box does not have someone there to sign for the docs.

wow! I wish all Phil. immigration officers are like that. Anybody else with a 456 visa with just a one way ticket?
How do I answer if I only have a one way ticket and have upon me a not so kind immigration officer?
thanks. :)
