New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

I assume you will be using courier services that will require a signature.

so the address should read

AHPRA

Level 1, 541 Hay Street

Subiaco WA 6008

Oh I am still beginning to apply for the AHPRA eligibility. I never knew the requirements are many. Can you enlighten me on the process? I am from Cebu and quite unfamiliar though. People tell me to go to IDP in Cebu Business Park. I am confused.

The process is tedious in the sense that there are so many docs to prepare. However, the step by step process is very straightforward and not confusing at all. I strongly suggest you do the following :

Go to the AHPRA website and choose the Nursing and Midwifery Board. When you get to the Nursing and Midwifery homepage, click on the "Overseas Practitioners". Read all the instructions there and download the Application Form.

After you have read all that you can in the AHPRA website, start reading this thread from page 1. There are numerous posts from past and present forummers that will greatly help answer your questions. Afterwhich you can, now, post your queries for things that you still may find vague and confusing.

Yes, you can go to IDP Cebu. But they usually encourage you to enroll in an RN conversion program that is a 1 to 2 year course. This is a lot more expensive and time consuming (I, personally, know because this is what they advised me also). Most, if not, all of us here have gone through the bridging course that is only 2 to 3 months long. Afterwhich, we get our RN license from AHPRA and start job hunting.

It pays to do your own research. There are many opinions and options out there for you. Do not take any agent's advice or any other person's opinion here as the absolute truth without verifying it for yourself from the source - AHPRA. We are here to help each other get to our Ozzie dream. However, there are, constantly, new developments happening with AHPRA and DIAC guidelines. What may have worked before may not be applicable now (e.g. the English Skills Test requirements). The choice you make entails specific end results. ;)

thank for the help guys.. just another confusion.. im about to send my docs.. now in what address will i send it?and how will they know that my docs from prc and Idp is with my docs i personally sent?do they give a ref #? i dont even know where to request ielts result..help.. will i just go bug niner for it??

for some clarification: did you send your prc and idp papers together with your application and other req.?

You need to go to the agency you applied for your ielts exam and they will let you fill up a requesting form so they will forward it to the main office. Do not forget to bring the identification card you used during the ielts exam, either an id or your passport or better yet bring you ielts result since they need your candidate number and id # which can be found in result form.

You can choose to let them mail thru an ordinary post mail (350 pesos)or a courier ( 1200 pesos), not really sure with the amount though.;)

Well, sharing advices and opinions sometimes is very exasperating. Some newbies expect us to answer honestly and then ask us if we are sure of our answers. We are not in "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" after all. :uhoh3:

There's no point in assuaging the fears of some skeptic if what he only relies on is the opinion of others without verifying the source... in this case, DIAC. Sometimes, I'm tempted to give a sarcastic answer myself. But then again, I remember how unsure I was of the things I was doing and the courses of action I was taking when I first began applying for registration with AHPRA. So, I just take a very deep breath... and make light of the situation when faced with a very basic question that I feel an elementary grader himself can answer. :D:uhoh3::lol2::D:lol2::uhoh3:

but then again, problem with some forumers here is they dont give time to search the answer for their questions eventhough it all needs is a click on their mouse's button.

go to the PRC and request for the certificate of good standing. they wont email it for you coz they dont have such service.

what you can do is email that document yourself and put PRC as the sender. if youre located here in Manila, there is a courier inside the PRC office and the people there already know what to do.

No DFA certification. That red ribbon thingy is for NZNC and not to AHPRA.

Orig Cert of Good Standing from PRC. And it has to be sent from PRC direct to AHPRA.

Please follow the AHPRA instructions on how to certify documents as true copies. It's plainly written in their website.

It's only your IELTS Test Report Form and the PRC good standing that are original. The rest are cert true copies.

No PRC ID. Only PRC License (i.e. That Diploma looking cert.)

Your school records including the BS Nursing Diploma should all be written or translated in English. Other schools may be written in another language so there has to be an english translation.

The cert true copies of your TOR including RLE should include course description, number of hours lecture and clinical placements (RLE). If you are a 2nd courser, it's best to include the TOR and course description of your previous course. My assessment got delayed because of this. :crying2:

NBI and birth certificate are not required but you can include these in the application if you like. Make sure to include a marriage certificate if you are "double" :lol2:.

For a more detailed and accurate list, it's best to review the AHPRA application form again just to be sure. There might be changes in the requirements since I applied last December.

many thanks to you joiemike :-) it's a good thing I didn't have sufficient funds last week and didn't bring my docs to DFA yet.. otherwise that's a waste of time and money..

I've been reading the thread and have learned a lot of things.:-)

1) i assume you also send a separate "certification of employment" duly signed by your employer... in this case, just wait for AHPRA's feedback... in the meantime, you may try to get a CV with employer's signature, if you can do so..

2) TOR has "units", but most TOR does not show "number of hours of classroom/theory lecture".. now, do you reckon your TOR has that "hours" i mentioned? if not, then it does not comply with AHPRA's requirement.

AHPRA wants "course description" for each nursing subjects, these information usually could be found in a document so-called as "syllabus"..

RLE which is known here as "clinical", would show the number of hours of your "clinical" exposure.. I believe you sent the correct RLE, no worries..

The way i see it, AHPRA may still contact you for information you did not supply or your registrar failed to supply (i.e. no. of hours of classroom lecture).. So, recheck your documents, did it comply as what I described above?

Good luck...

additional question please :-)

with regard to AHPRA CRITERION FIVE (Fitness to practise is required to demonstrate to the wider public the integrity of the profession and its processes

governing regulation.)

* The applicant must produce evidence of fitness to practise

from a registering authority verifying that the applicant has

no restrictions resulting from mental incapacity.

*The applicant must produce evidence of fitness to practise

from a registering authority verifying that the applicant has

no restrictions resulting from physical incapacity.

Aside from medical certificate issued by an accredited clinic/hospital by AUS Embassy what are the other attachments necessary?

e.g.

neurological examination?

chest XRAY result?

LAB results?

Kindly correct me please if I got it wrong.thank you :)

The evidence is the PRC Cert of Good Standing. That's all. ;)
