Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
Hey thanks for the reply isingrn! I'm not sure if you'll still be able to visit this thread tonight as I know you'll be extremely busy.Yes, that's what we should do, just let go and let God. I hope we'll be able to find work and not come back before our 90-day stay. But reading joimike's post made me think twice about extending or just coming home to spend Christmas with my hubby and my little boy. I'll miss them heaps! I remember almost 2 years ago, when going to Australia for the Bridging Program or CAS seemed out of reach haha! But then here we are! God is so good!
You'll be in Victoria right? Well, good luck and Godbless!
its been a long while since ive been reading your name/posts.. time flies quickly, and here you are... good luck.. count your blessings, but be ready for the challenges.. as ive always say in this thread, prayers prayers prayers..
I just read the whole thread from page 1. Whew! Ceridwyn, why do you always discourage Filipino nurses here? Why do you do that? I just noticed that when someone posts positive comments, you always have something to say against it. I am sure you have good intentions but instead of encouraging your fellow nurses, you do the opposite. You're just talking about reality I get it. But why aphra would still accept international applicants if what you claim is true? Do I smell racism here? Are you a Filipino? Just asking. Did you really compare Philippines with first world countries?"This had been discussed before on this forum, so its not new, how PRC works. AHPRA and NMC in the UK and nursing boards in the USA of A, this is how they do it, the applicant does not even see the document of good standing it is just made up and sent directly to the other country's nursing boards/council."
amen bro.just talked with my friends from Oz.they encourage me to apply because the job market is still good. Australia is such a big country it would be virtually impossible for qualified nurses not to find decent jobs. nobody really has the monopoly of info so people who continually discourage us Filipinos are just to be ignored. why these kind of people are here still bugs me when they aren't Pinoys in the first place. what I do know for sure is that hardworking Filipinos, especially nurses will always have a place in whatever country they want to work in. Kudos to Filipino nurses!
Guys
Can you please be respectful to everyone. People in the country can give you a more heads up on what is happening in the country you are planning on moving to. If the news isn't what you expect to hear then don't give up just make you more determined to get there and if that means posting later on your success then post but remember at some stage demand will wane and process may stop or be delayed

Ceridwyn has been an invaluable contributor in this thread and many other threads. It is the posts by Ceridwyn and many others that has inspired me to participate in this forum. I find your criticism of Ceridwyn unconstructive and distasteful.
I'll tell you why AHPRA will continue to accept international applicants....because it's not their job to issue work visas. Let me explain. AHPRA is a body for the registration of different professions here in Australia. Any registration body in any country who accepts overseas applicants are obliged to review and issue you a registration if you meet their standards. It is the immigration department that issue visas. Overseas applicants apply for student or tourist visas...please note not work visas. This does not mean there are plenty of jobs. It means there are plenty of applicants. Applicants who want to be registered nurses here in Australia in the hope that they will get sponsored by an employer so that they can get their work visa.
That was a silly question for somebody who claim to have read all the posts from page 1.
too bad i didn't get all 7 in ielts, 6.5 with writing, sucks! haha ugh! which uni could i enroll for BP that accepts that score? i mean, how important is it to get all 7 in ielts? won't i be able to work in Australia if i don't have all 7?
Sorry for your IELTS result. If you visit the AHPRA website or backread this thread you'll find that they have made it very clear that you need the right scores to get your eligibility and your registration. They have identified which countries are exempt from the IELTS exam and usually schools that have bridging programs will follow suit. Well, take it as a chance to get more experience. Good luck.

Based on my understanding, BPs usually just take 12-13 weeks. Where have you seen BPs with 1 year? I'm eager to know, because we do have the same situation regarding the IELTS result. TIA :)

O well, I still have 3 months to think about it. hehehe... One step at a time...but for now, all I want to think about is my flight to Oz! Yikeeee! :)
