Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

i think you didnt fully understand what he stated in his earlier post.he was questioning why certain professions could certify docs in australia while here in the philippines we couldnt.
not only that, he was also questioning the process of PRC, mentioned Recto, and fake notary publics.
yes theres nothing wrong on what he did but i dont think that its proper to put down your own country and give praise to another especially in international forums like this.
double check before you make comments like that
With all due respect to your opinion, I sincerely beg to disagree. I would rather be criticized by my own kin rather than be criticized by others. It's like a black person calling another black person the "N" word. It is more palatable to me to be reprimanded or criticized by my own parents or siblings for something I am doing wrong in the hope that I will learn my lesson and not do it again. Turning a blind eye on a wrongdoing doesn't make it less real. This self criticism is constructive, I believe.
What you are saying is that we can get our Cert of Good Standing ourselves, put it inside a PRC envelope and mail it ourselves because, as you would say, we are short of personnel or money. But that is precisely the point. The integrity of the document is already tainted. We are not following the right procedure here and therefore we shouldn't complain when government agencies from other countries treat our documents with suspect.
And don't you blame me for "squealing" about this system in an international forum such as this. The Philippine media has already featured a lot of exposes on cheating and fake documents in our country. Our messed up system did it to ourselves.
Take for example the 2006 Nursing Licensure Examinations that was tainted. Some review centers bought leaked answers to the test so that they can have a very high passing rate apart from getting as many topnotchers. We, sometimes, want to make shortcuts to success sacrificing honesty and integrity not fully grasping the reality of the consequences. All the world already knows what happened. Good thing that we rectified it and all the other nursing boards worldwide still recognize our licensing system. God help us if we were banned from other countries because of what happened....There's nobody to blame but ourselves though.
This is the last time I am dealing with this argument. As I have already said many times before, people want to believe what they want to believe. I sincerely apologize for offending your sensibilities. But I stand by what I have shared here in the hope that people will become aware of the reality in our system. I still am proud to be a Filipino. I will always be a Filipino by heart even if I will hopefully be in Australia soon. I am proud of our current President right now for believing in the "matuwid na daan" (translated : straight path). I know it's a very tall order for him to rid our system of corruption and inefficiency in a span of only 6 years. But, hey, it's a damn good start!!!!:yeah:
thank you for your encouragement, i greatly need it, especially when i learned that all of my classmates have multiple entry or a single entry with no no further stay condition...felt like im such a loser but i know the best thing i can do is to focus now on the studies and work hard to find a sponsor...just got to bare with it and try to look at the bright side of it =)
what do you guys think is the basis of the immigration in giving a no further stay condition and a single entry visa?? Why do other applicants get multiple entry while others are only given single entry?? anyone??
From what I have experienced before in applying to other countries, it usually depends on your personal circumstances like proof of funds, relatives who you might be visiting, etc. And yet again, you just will be at the mercy of the whims and caprices of the consul reviewing your visa application. Just pray that he or she did not sleep on the wrong side of the bed at the time he or she will review your papers. Tough luck!! (pardon me for making light of the situation. I don't want to be misconstrued again Mhai --- peace) :redpinkhe:redbeathe:heartbeat

hehe.. its okay mike.. hahay... i guess we really just have to wait.. =) God bless our applications mike...=) let's keep praying :)
Were you also given a multiple travel 456? If yes, how do you think can we go about extending our stay for more than 90 days? I already bought a round-trip ticket way before I received my visa but it's okay coz I can always re-book the return for later. My question is, will our multiple 456 be cancelled should we opt to apply for a 676 while we're still there? Plane fares are so expensive that's why I wouldn't want to come back here then go back to AU after a few weeks just to look for work...
Hi, sorry for the late reply, been busy cause I'm leaving on tues. I got a single entry pass, so I really have no choice but to apply for a 676 visa to extend and process my registration. I booked a one-way ticket, hoping that things would be fine with the immigration. Congratulations on your visa! I might spend Christmas there while waiting for my registration then finally applying for a job. I decided to just let go and let God. I've been stressed out for the past few days cause things happen so fast, I can't compose myself. Hahaha...o well, it's finally here, we're about to leave! Good luck to us! :)
I just want to ask some questions.I received my tourist visa with 1 month stay.Do i have a chance to take bridging course in Australia? Do i need to apply for the eligibility first in AHPRA before i go to Aussie? Please help...
Can you please clarify your situation? You bypassed point A and jumped immediately to Z.
You have to have an AHPRA eligibility letter first before you undergo the bridging program.
All bridging programs are 2 to 3 months long so a 1 month stay tourist visa is definitely not sufficient.
Please read the guidelines from the AHPRA website for a step by step instruction on how overseas trained nurses can apply for nursing registration in Australia. Then you can start reading from page 1 of this thread for a more thorough explanation on some items that seem vague.
Why and how did you get your tourist visa anyway?
Please don't expect to fast track your path to become an RN in Australia. Most of us here took months before we were able to undergo the BP. I, myself, am leaving at the end of the month for the bp after 9 months of processing my AHPRA papers and enrolling in a bridging program.
i apply a 676 tourist visa but i am only permitted to remain in Australia for 1 month from the date of arrival.Conditions: i cannot work but i have maximum of 3 months study. My visa has 1 year validity from Aug.2011 to Aug 2012.My plan is to have a tour there but since i'm a registered nurse in the
Philippines and a California RN as well,I just want to try my luck in Australia since my priority date in the U.S. is not current at the moment. Is there any chance for me to apply for a student visa in Aussie? so I could enroll in the Bridging course.

Again, you are mistaking the egg from the chicken. You have to enroll in a bridging course first before you can apply for a student visa. Your enrolling in a bp is the reason for a student visa and not the other way around. But I heard you can apply for a bp in some schools without the AHPRA letter yet. But after you graduate, you won't be given an RN license yet until you comply with all the AHPRA requirements. It's a bit tricky and fraught with uncertainties but you try asking around some bp schools for that option. Most of the bp schools by the way are based in Melbourne. A few can be found in Sydney, Perth, and Adelaide. There is another option though. You can undergo a 1 year RN conversion program even without the AHPRA letter. But again, you won't be licensed by AHPRA unless you comply with all the requirements. Please do your research yourself in the AHPRA website and by reading this thread from page 1. I am not claiming to be an expert here. I am just in the same boat as you are who happen to have gone through the process ahead of you.

Yes I had it on my visa and I came back in the Philippines before my visa expires. It was disappointing, I know, but you got to deal with things and try to make ways for things to come through. When I was in Oz, I tried to appeal to the immigration and requested them to waive the condition. It wasn't an easy process. It is possible to waive the condition only from limited circumstances. I did try to waive it, but the immigration officer I have talked with, told me that it is a small chance that it will be granted, not only because of the reasons I have stated in my letter but I was also running out of time and the result/judgment for my request won't be released before my visa expire. I came back to Phils, not with a heavy heart, because my mind was already set that I will come back anyway. This is not to discourage you from doing a request to waive the condition, I am actually encouraging you to do it, because your fate may not be the same as mine. You might get luckier.
And for your last question, yes, if you wont be successful in waiving the 'no further stay', that's basically what will happen. It is pretty daunting but think of better things, you will have the privilege to spend time with your family before you start working.
Just reinforcing what some of the previous members here told us before, that with the right attitude, perseverance and faith in God, you will get a job even when you are off shore. Not easy, but possible. :)
