Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

if you have a no further stay in your visa and single entry... is there a possibility you can request for that to be changed? like, can you write a letter of request to the immigration stating that you wish to return to AU??
Yes, Mhai. At least that's what my niece told me. A friend of hers was given a single entry no further stay clause in her 456 visa, but she tried to appeal to DIAC when her visa was about to lapse already in Melbourne. She talked to an immigration officer herself and appealed for compassion on her plight. The immigration officers there are very kind, considerate, and helpful. The girl was granted a tourist visa to extend her stay. The point here is, there is no harm in trying. (caveat : this is just one case though and not the norm).
when you go to PRC, request for this document: "certificate of good standing" .....do not say "certificate of registration status", dont say "verification of license/registration"..and of course, PRC should send that document directly to AHPRA...
good luck!
I would like to share with you this thing about PRC.
In my case, the PRC gave me the original "Certificate of Good Standing". The girl at the window told me to go to their customer service area and buy an official PRC envelope there, put the Cert. inside and mail it to AHPRA myself.
Although this is deviating from the proper protocol that the transaction should be between PRC and AHPRA, I actually preferred this. I bought an extra PRC envelope just in case I make a mistake in printing the AHPRA address...went to 2Go to mail the Cert. In the parcel application form, I put in the PRC as the sender.
This is another case of doing it myself and not relying on others. At least I know when I sent it, who I sent it to, and the best thing is I can ask for confirmation from 2Go who received the parcel in AHPRA.

I think this is the right way of doing so because PRC wont send this document by themselves. We are the one who really has the send this BUT as youve stated put PRC as the sender

Hahaha. Only in the Philippines. "Walang ganyan sa States" - (loosely translated as : "You can't do it in other countries") :lol2:
(I hope the administrator won't delete this Tagalog phrase) :lol2:
This leaves the applicant nurse applying for any country, in control of what goes into a postmarked envelope by the applicant nurses registration board, in your case - PRC.
Direct..... in the english sense, by AHPRA means...... no other persons are involved, direct from PRC employee to AHPRA employee. This is so they can believe the certificate is true and genuine about the professional standing of the nurse applicants, by their nurses registration board, and let face it, in desperate times, desperate things can happen.
This had been discussed before on this forum, so its not new, how PRC works. AHPRA and NMC in the UK and nursing boards in the USA of A, this is how they do it, the applicant does not even see the document of good standing it is just made up and sent directly to the other country's nursing boards/council.
:) Good luck with your career.
theres nothing wrong in what we do. we get the document from the PRC and mail it inside the PRC compound.they dont have the time and service to do so, so we have to mail it on our own with their knowledge.
whats wrong with that?
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh boy
Well, at least the mail office in your PRC branch is just inside the same compound. In our part of the Phils., they just give us the documents and let us choose wherever we may want to mail them. And the document itself is just printed in a very ordinary paper. There are no security features at all unlike the IELTS Test Report Form.
That is probably why there are a lot of fake papers available for sale in places like Recto. Our system lacks the integrity that other countries have. So, we can't complain if our documents are always treated by others with suspect.
AHPRA is a bit more lenient though than NZNC. I had to have my PRC license verified by the Dept. of Foreign Affairs (That red ribbon thingy!!!) and afterwhich bring this to the New Zealand Embassy for a further stamp at the back. How redundant!!!... And all these at exorbitant fees!!!! Good for those people that are Manila based. How about for those in far flung areas like Visayas and Mindanao!!!!
Speaking of certified true copies, my niece told me that in Aus, police officers, pharmacists, other professionals that have licenses/seals can certify your documents. At the police station, the certification is free, but the line sometimes is long. At the pharmacy though there is usually a minimal fee.
Why can't we do it here too? Oh, I remember that there are fake "notary publics" too. Saw it in one of those expose shows on TV.
I better stop complaining now. Starting to sound like an curmudgeony, old geezer......(pardon the expression)
