Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
hi everyone,
i'm trying to complete the application form 48r for tourist visa subclass 676. can someone advise me how to make the "letter of invitation"?. my cousin, who is a pr, is willing to help me out so i can attach it to my application. it might bolster my chances of getting a 6 or 12 month tourist visa instead of the business short stay subclass 456 that only allows you to stay in aus for up to 3 months at a time.
how do we submit and attach this letter to our application? can an a scanned copy through email do? does it have to be notarized in australia? i think i still have time to attach this to my application end of this week.
any advise will really be appreciated.:)
:heartbeat:up:
:redpinkhe:yeah:
sorry you might be confused. just want to clarify, when i said 'how big' their house is, i only meant how many bedrooms etc. that's what my aunt did. her exact words were "we have a two-storey, xx bedroom house that can accommodate my niece and her family during their stay here".. no need to put in how many square meters etc. :)
I think you will find cousins cannot sponsor and any relative needs to be pr for at least 2 years or a citizen.
I think it would be fine for cousins to invite for a place of stay... I mean, the 676 visa is a non-sponsorship visitors visa... The relatives will not sponsor financially but will just help out in the accomodation.... what do you think ceridwyn??will they still be unable to send a letter for this??
Anything is worth a try, just do not be too greedy thats when immigration gets narky.....like in previous post for parents asking for 12 months viSA, when the relative in Australia has already placed themselves as not so much sponsors, but supporting people for a tourist stay of 12 months already, all gets spat out on the computer, names get matched up.
Ask for the significant dates that you really need and then the dates that you would like.....if money is tight then get supporting letter that accommodation can be supplied. The application does have all the relatives and friends can be listed.
Depends on how much time to apply, as you need medicals, Apply and email letter later when you have application number.
ps i do not have any immigration quals and disclaim any wrong information given.

i guess you're right... i don't thin a 12month visa is reasonable when the main reason is just to take a 3month course.... maybe a 6 month will do.... be praying for this... thanks!!=)
Cousins cannot sponsor, sorry to say..do not think they would entertain any support from cousin, could be wrong, but to apply for visit to family, does not include cousins..sorry re read application....could not see where it needs to have a letter attached on the 48R form, just be open, put in family and friends and the significant dates that you really need the visa for and put in other dates that you would like to have the visa for....
.I get the feeling if you put in a whole year that you want it for straightaway instead of giving the significant dates for your course they would get a bit ''iffy'" but also put in the dates that you would like to have the visa for and they would see that you were not being presumptious in demanding extended stay.
Thanks for the clarification. My mistake though. It's not an affidavit of support I need. It's just a letter from my cousin. Anyway, I just based my assumptions on what's being asked in the form 48R for tourist visa. It states where and who I might be visiting like friends and relatives. I have a first degree cousin who is already an Australian citizen. She and her husband has given a letter to the Australian embassy that they have invited me to visit them and they will support my financial and accommodation needs if required. They have attached their financial statements to prove they are financially capable. Anyway, the application form did not specifically state that only immediate relatives can invite and support me. It just asks relatives in general... so I guess a first degree cousin can be considered.
Yes, I will definitely take your advice to put the specific dates of my stay especially the BP program duration.
Thank you very much for your opinion. I have duly noted your suggestions. :yeah:
Ask them to make a letter stating that they have a house big enough to accommodate you. My aunt in AU made one for me and my family. She stated how big her house is and also attached their certificates of citizenship. She just scanned her letter (with her signature) and also scanned a notarized copy of their certificates of citizenship (by a JP). I then printed those and included them in our 676 application. She did not include an ITR because she only indicated in the letter that they will be providing for our accommodation. But if your cousins/relatives there will be the one to support you financially then a scanned , notarized copy of their proof of income is necessary. As I've mentioned before, my husband and son were given a 676. These were the only docs my aunt from AU sent. I also wanted to apply for a 676 but embassy advised me (after waiting for 11 working days) to change my application from a 676 to a 456. Anyway I also hoped to have a 676 for me to be able to stay in AU longer than 3 months. But yeah, they asked me to change my application. So until now I'm still waiting for my 456...
The bigger your evidence of funds, more likely that they will grant you a multiple 676 visa. My parents applied for a 676 last April for their travel this month on the 24th. They did not include any evidence of funds from here but my aunt (same aunt who also provided an invite letter for me and my family) provided an invite letter and also mailed a notarized copy of her ITR. They were (only) granted a single entry for 3 months. I'm guessing my aunt's salary was not big enough. In our (me, my hubby and son) application, we included bank statements from here in Manila. They weren't even under my husband's name rather they were my in-laws'. My in-laws also made a letter of support for the three of us. I reckon they found our evidence of funds sufficient for them to grant multiple entry for my husband and my son.
So I think for a 676, the greater evidence of funds the better. For a 456 however, I don't think evidence of funds is that important as long as you have that letter of approval from the school.
Oh I see. So, you mean to say that the Australian Embassy advised you that you have to have the 456 visa instead of the 676 because you are the one undergoing the bp course?
I had the misconception that the 676 visa can be used for the bp course. I researched the DIAC website and it says that the 676 visa can be used to undergo a study program of not more than 3 months duration. Hmmm.... I would have preferred this visa because there can be a possibility that the embassy will grant you a stay of more than 3 months per entry depending on your supporting documents. I have enough funds to support it and even included my previous travels abroad to other countries that needs visas to go there. I have asked my cousin to give me the letter of support so it can bolster my chances of being granted a longer stay.
Well, there is an email address given by the Australian Embassy. Maybe I can ask them myself. I guess it's best to get the advice from the horse's mouth himself so to speak. ;)

hi mhai and everyone,
this is the response i got from etea. i guess i will be applying for 676 after all. i have received my cousin's letter of invitation already. hope this helps others in choosing which visa to apply for. at least we have options of having the possibility of a longer stay of more than 3 months. enough time to wait for our license, apply for jobs, and hopefully get a working visa from our employer. god bless everyone!!:yeah:
hello xxxxxxxx,
yes both the sub class 456 visa or the sub class 676 visa are suitable. if you have relatives you are visiting in brisbane during your stay in australia then i would suggest you submit an application for the sub class 676.
it is important that you submit with your application;
1. the letter from ahpra
2. the letter of offer from etea
3. a letter from your relative inviting you to visit them in brisbane after you finish your bridging course.
also it is important that you request for a waiver on condition 8503 "no further stay". as to the purposes of your bridging course is to obtain registration as an australian registered nurse and you would like to apply for an appropriate work visa with an employer once you have finished the course and obtained registration. if you have a condition 8503 stamped on your visa, then you will not be able to apply for another visa whilst on shore and you will need to return to your country of origin.
trust this helps.
regards

that's great!!! i'll pm you...=)
My personal opinion is no way I would tell Diac that you are applying for tourist visa to find work secondly please inform your BP school that their course does not give citizenship, you do not become an Australian so therefore cannot be an Australian RN you can however be a Filipino nurse with Australian nurses registration!

Yup. You are definitely right!!! I will just put in my itinerary that I will be visiting my relatives in Brisbane right after the bp for one month. That way, I will be staying in Aus for a total of 4 months.
Thanks for your advice ceridwyn.
