Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

the duration of most IRON courses is 12 weeks right?
and our maximum length of stay in australia is 3 months (12 weeks) whether we are on a tourist or business visa.
so my question is, how can we find employers or apply for our AHPRA registration if the last day of our BP is also the last day of us legally staying in australia?
HI Ising...I might try for AAON TOO. will be sending copies via email tomorrow. how do you know which visa they require? La trobe requires Student visa, how about AAON? when did you do your medicals, before or after Visa? this is quite confusing for me really. hope to hear from you soon. and good luck !
hi! Is AAON same as Ballarat or do they have a separate learning institute?
hey guys, i need help! just a simple advice would do :) i took my IELTS and i'm not quite sure if 'id get all 7, the results are not out yet. got 5 months experience as a nurse here in the Philippines, and i'm wondering which school to take BP program if ever.. any suggestions? i tried reading through AHPRA , i'm quite confused. I wanted to do things myself as well, i don't want to depend on some agency anymore. Do you know how things are flawlessly done? thanks in advance!
It's Better to wait for the result of your IELTS before starting your application, but while waiting, please read the first pages this thread. Most of us here did all the processing without any help from agencies. All we had to do is browse the APHRA website for instructions on applying as an overseas nurse, read this thread, and then we post our queries here for questions and clarifications.
It takes time before one understand the process of becoming a Registered Nurse in Au. Just be patient. good luck
