Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Pretty sure you need student visa if cricso. Better ring BP schoolWould not dream of trying to enter Australia without a valid visa planted firmly in your passport.
What silly advice to give from a consulant.
We did. The school told us to apply for a 456 visa and not a student visa, he told me that they won't be sending a certificate of enrolment. So should I push through with the 456 visa even if i was a little discouraged by the person in the embassy?
As what I have read from previous post (specifically from the part 1 of this), if its CRICOS registered you can apply either, student visa or 456 but if the school is non- CRICOS you cannot apply for student visa.I think it depends too on how long the BP is. Some schools program are 14 weeks so most likely you'll apply for student visa since the 456 is good for 3 weeks only :)
Really? The program is just for 12 weeks but is CRICOS registered. I'm confused!

I'm not 100% sure though. I just read that. I actually posted a link a few pages ago about CRICOS thing. Anyway, if you'll apply for student visa, I don't think there would be much time since your BP's gonna start soon. With the 456 visa, I'm sure you'll get it asap. I'm confused with your situation too. I hope you'll get the answer asap. :)
Congratulations!Anyway, what are the chances of a landing a job if you only have a volunteer experience?
I have several friends and schoolmates who only had 6 months volunteer experience/ training. Some of them got jobs in hospitals, most in nursing homes. I think it depends on how impressive your resume is and of course, how you do on the interview.
hey guys, i have heard from a friend that starting July of next year, Australia won't be accepting any applications from Filipino nurses anymore, is that true?
I don't think Australia would and could do that. That is clearly racial discrimination - if they pin point nurses coming from a specific country (unless there is a clear and impending reason for them to do so). If they do stop hiring foreign nurses in the future, it would probably be because they no longer have a need for them. This would mean a halt, not just with nurses coming from a specific country, but all foreign nurses who are in need of visa sponsorship.
hi.just want you guys to know that AHPRA ACT told me that it will take 8 weeks before they can assess overseas nurse applications due to volume of applicants.
just thought of sharing it.
I agree, 8 weeks is still better than what I had to go through with AHPRA VIC - 9 months just for an eligibility letter. Crazy slow.
hi i'm new here...i just sent my application and other documents to ahpra last monday...just would like to ask...are first aid, ACLS, and BLS certificates needed before anyone can enroll in a bridging course? do i have to have all the immunizations first before BP?
can anyone enlighten me?...hehehe
I don't think any of those courses are required by any of the schools offering the BP. Each school has it's own set of admission criteria. Some of the schools require 1-2 years post registration experience. It's best to look at each school's website and contact them for more information.
