Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Oh no! Thats really bad. If I couldnt get a job after BP, I'll be full of debt
Maybe... not yet.
Somehow, everything went easy for me prior job hunting...
Graduating BSN at an early age
Passing NLE/IELTS once
Volunteer in Phil
Sponsorship by my parents for Visa
BP
By the way, if they say rural OZ, it's really rural and way far.
2 Carers & 1 RN/shift: 35 patients
Imagine that. RN has full authority.
Residents know your name after a couple of weeks of being here.
I'm in Aged Care now as a Carer not as an RN. Had this job week after BP with free accomodation. I waited for my AHPRA registration and afterwards walked around Adelaide and suburbs for employment. I also sent resumes to hospitals in WA, VIC, NSW.Got too tired, depressed, disappointed, frustrated on 3rd month of job hunting... I stopped and went extra overtime as FT Carer to somehow earn as much as an RN.
6 months of job seeking...
Dont lose hope...my classmates are also AIN (Assistant In Nursing) in Brisbane, Queensland and after finishing their BP they will be instantly be absorbed by the nursing home and sponsored for PR as RNs. They also said that they need more nurses in their nursing home and their employer prefers Filipino nurses. Actually, they are offering me to apply to their employer as well but I'm still thinking about it.
You said that you are currently working as a carer maybe you can ask your employer if they can sponsor you as an RN.
Ohh NO!! Is this really happening????:crying2:
:crying2:
Just be patient.. ur turn will come!!! Be positive, YOU CAN DO IT!!!
I'm very fine.
I pity those who need to go back to India, Nepal, Philippines and so on after BP. Atleast, I'm already here in OZ.
I just can't fathom if some of them have dependents that they need to support or if their parents are in debt because of BP.
Roughly BP costs 600,000 pesos. Way bigger than 4 year BSN, slight difference with MD course, it can even start a big business back home.

Thank you.
I'm only 21... still great working as Carer. Lot of things to come.
1 RN here is working on her resignation. Wishing an ocean for that.
i started to have a panic attack after reading this....my parents gonna kill me when i dont land a job after bp...can anybody who had success after bp give some encouragement...?
As I said, I never meant to discourage.
You see...
As a Carer doing extra extra OT + free accommodation...
I think my take home pay is better than those entry RNs who need to rent in Sydney, Melbourne etc.

Hi ozbaby,
What is the major difference between a Carer, Assistant in Nursing, and RN in a nursing home in terms of Job function? And if you don't mind, around how much is the starting salary of an RN and a Carer? thank you
How can these people who are students in a bridging program working? most visa a short term business, not allowed to work! only on student visa can you work no more than 20hrs a week.
Cannot be sponsored for long term visa as a carer or nursing assistant, these occupations are not on sol list.
How come they are employing filipino nurses only? Its illegal to employ based on race. Is this employer even advertising for citizens or permanent residents first before óbsorbing"" nurses from overseas?
