Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
6 months after BP, still no work as a Registered Nurse. SIGH.I'm here in Australia (PR). Lucky enough, yes. But, still no luck of being employed as RN. I'm working as a Carer in a far rural place. Receiving enough wage, learning skills, improving my communication.
Six months...
Most of my Indian classmates went back to their country. Few got lucky to be sponsored but they have already have long years of experience.
Truth is...
There's already nursing surplus of Australian graduates.
There are job postings/listings but prefer HIGHLY experienced nurses and OZresidents.
i started to have a panic attack after reading this....my parents gonna kill me when i dont land a job after bp...can anybody who had success after bp give some encouragement...?
4) reality however is, as what ceridwyn had warned, things are not really as rosy now as compared before.. the job market here is competitive already.. Australia was RNs heaven 2-3 years ago..
How could you guys not believe him if there's 3 guys supporting this claim whos already in Australia. The tuition fee in BP is no joke if you have no means of paying it back in the future
Its time to make plan B guys...
hi mariel!!! i just wanted to share this too, there's one consulatancy agency here in quezon city also saying the same thing to me.. They wanted me to apply for student visa and will be taking masters in accountancy. If u talk to them its like saying, getting PR is just a piece of cake, telling applicants that after 2 yrs we can have our PR already. the consultant even told me that after graduating from masters in accountancy , BP program will be free becoz i am a nurse here!!! Not good right? And Ceridwyn is right, he gave us information that could really help a lot... you dont need an agency service to apply ur assessment to ahpra, u can do it by urself, just read, read , read hehehehe.
So many Thanks to all the people here giving us very useful information!!! :redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe
The consultancy agency is wrong. As from July next year you will have to do an expression of interest to stay on the country or to apply for skilled migration and then you will be invited to apply if your occupation and work experience is needed in Australia.
Also from July this year past big changes were made to this type of applying for pr after 2 years study.
This consultants make out it is a walk in the park, just walk in with a fist full of money- permanent residency -free education at uni.
And no Judy because you are a nurse you will get free bridging program!!
This is only for citizens that were registered nurses over 5 years ago in Australia and have not practiced since and Iivht add made taxes back then to be entitled to be given sosomrthing free by Australian government.
Accountants no experience are also a dime a dozen now so on 3 years they will not be on the shortage list and therefore will not give any overseas student the opportunity go express interest to apply for a permanent visa.
hi there...
i'm new to this forum, and i hope somebody here can help me
im planning to take the BP in australia...
i would like to ask if a working experience is needed...
im currently on my way to my 2nd yr as a staff nurse in a tertiary hospital in Manila,,,
how can i provide an evidence that i am currently employed ( or is it needed?), if our hospital doesnt issue yet my employment certificate?
thank you...
hello miks103... Did you take your BP in CON? I tried contacting them and they told that they only enroll students that were referred to them by AHPRA, what does this mean? Should the eligibility letter include a suggestion of their school to be enrolled in?
sorry for the late reply Mhai. The eligibility letter from AHPRA is the document needed by CON already. Its indicated in the eligibility letter that for Sydney only CON conducts the assessment of competence program.

Are you for real bro? Anyway, how many years is your nursing experience here in the Philippines? So that we could also gauge our chances of landing a job there,if ever.
They need nurses experienced in Icu Ed qualified by Ahpra standard midwives dialysis cardiac care mental health and often want post grad studies in these areas as well.
It's not just a matter of having a year or to experience. The health facility needs to have a full ti
E position available and prove to Diac that no locals are available for the position. Sponsoring nurses costs money and holds institutions to responsibilities that they can be fined if they do not forfill. Like
Along sure nurse attends the work fulltme remains in the job And if the nurse goes AWOL they can be charged for the money to find the nurse and if to be deported pay for all airfares for the nurses and all the family.
If you can get pr or come fro
Country that allows holiday visa there is work..... Alot of it pArt time or contract for short periods.
Unfortunately if you have pi citizenship you need a visa that allows you to work -like the ones they give out after 2 year study on approved sol list or you get skilled migrant visa - very difficult if no paid work for at least 3 years or you get sponsorship - becoming even more difficult.
Just got home after a long day reviewing for the IELTS (my first day), ang now this?! Ugh!God help us all
Hello sweet_tooth... I have read that you are reviewing for ielts.... Have you tried to contact your registration officer if this is really necessary??
Coz I just contacted mine asking her if I should take another IELTS exam for when I try to apply for registration after BP since mine expired also. She said (atleast this is how I understand it) that the IELTS during my application will be used and only the proof of completion for BP is required for my application to progress as written in the eligibility letter. Should I not finish my BP after 12months, I will have to reapply and that's when I need another valid IELTS...
This is how I understand it... But i'm not sure if this is applicable to all states....

Its okay miks... so i guess i can't go to CON since I didn't apply in NSW...hehehe

I don't think we should be discouraged about this. I know its tough but if God can bring us to Aus then that must mean He has a purpose for us there... This post doesn;t mean we should quit... it should only serve as a challenge for us all... Let's just keep on praying.... If God is with us, who can be against us, right? He has a plan for all of us, lets trust Him.... =)
