New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

It took me almost a year to get my eligibility letter. I sent first my application to AHPRA Victoria, and they kept on telling me that an assessment officer hasn't been assigned yet on my case. That's what they kept on telling me every time I called them up to follow up. Then last April, I requested for them to transfer my application to AHPRA NSW and they did. I called AHPRA NSW to follow up and got to talk to the Professional Officer assigned on my application. Just less than a week, I received an email from my Professional Officer informing me that the assessment to my application has been complete,and that I have to wait until the Board meeting last June 2 for my application to be considered. One week after the Board meeting, I called the officer again to follow up, then she told me that the referral letters were sent to my address last June 10. I waited one month for the letters to arrive.

hello dimplednurse... you mentioned you waited for a month for your letter to arrive.. May i know the date in your eligibility letter and when you have recieved it. I haven't received my letter yet and I thought it might have been lost during the transfers but since you mentioned about waiting for a month then maybe I still have hope..hehe I do have an emailed copy of the letter, though...=)

@ Mhai ...yes, you're right its mercy health instead of ETEA.. getting confused with all the BP acronyms

@Mhai

how was the interview with IHNA?

did you get a slot?

btw, have you asked them when will the next BP program be?

is there any news on CON?are they gonna open another class for September?I'm on the waiting list and I haven't got any updates from them.

i checked IHNA and saw that they require 2 years mimimum experience with at least 1 year of which is in the MS ward.

they also require professional reference and employment statements. btw, what is the difference between the two?

according to them, they conduct every 6 weeks but the downside is, they require a lot docs.

Hello Guys,

As I live in Australia, I have been calling each BP course to check slots for this year.

Mercy is opening a program in November, 7 but there are only 5 places to fill in. Besides, the coordinator told me they will choose only 12 applications for conduct an interview.

ETEA has received already over 87 application forms for the October intake, However they are still accepting applications for their review and consideration...so we never know.

CON is planning an extra class in September. The course coordinator asked me to give her a call today to check if it will be really possible or not. I've called her office but she is at lunch break. So, I guess by the end of the day I will have an answer regarding the extra class.

I'll let you updated... fingers crossed for the extra class at CON in September!!

I Forgot to mention VCHN - October intake. Well, according to them Perth and Melbourne places are already "taken" but the attendant asked me to submit the application anyway. It means they may have left some "slots" just in case they receive more applications. It worth it to try anyway!

Hi,

Is there anyone here, who've gone through the interview at AAON? Care to share any tips? Thank you.

hello rajotolentino.... my interview was fine i guess... She had some situational questions about morphine administration and what to do if you can't understand the other person on the line.. Im not sure if i got the morphine thing right but she told me in Au the protocol was to have two nurses check the charts and administer the drug...hehehe

I never got the chance to ask her when their next intake will be... as for my interview result she said they'll just email me... praying fervently for a good result...=)

Bad news :cry::cry::cry: ,

Just talked to the CON' BP coordinator and there are no places for September intake at all. The waiting list was made for "giving preference" to those who applied first and will get their places " guaranteed" at the first intake next year. She stated there will have no EXTRA class this year, it means the last class at CON will take place in September.

If there is anyone who has further information regarding places at BP this year, pleeeeeeeeease let me know!! I've just noticed it won't be easy...

Thank you guys
